County of Gaston Assistant Health Director - Population Health in Gastonia, North Carolina

+-----------------------------------------------------------------------+ | The duties listed below are not all of the duties that may be | | assigned but are those that are considered as essential for an | | employee to perform. | | | | - Provides management support and programmatic and policy | | recommendations to the Public Health Director to promote the | | development of Health services and Initiatives to strengthen the | | impact of local public health in Gaston County. Works closely | | with other healthcare providers, nonprofits, and community | | leaders to develop a comprehensive community health strategy. | | Represents public health on the Gaston Vision 2040 board, the | | Healthcare Commission and other relevant boards and coalitions. | | Oversees external communication activities to help promote public | | health services and resources. | | - Provides strategic support to the Community Health Assessment and | | Community Health Improvement teams. Ensures that residents, | | healthcare entities, local nonprofits, elected officials and | | community leaders are engaged and utilize the data in the | | Community Health Assessment. Provides guidance and resources to | | the Community Health Impact Section, clinical services and the | | Community Health Strategist to ensure that the priorities, | | programs and engagement efforts identified in the Community | | Health Improvement Plan are given the resources and visibility | | needed to support lasting impact for the community. Works closely | | with local and regional partners to assess the feasibility and | | implementation of initiatives included in the Community Health | | Improvement Plan. | | - Supports and/or supervises Community Health | | Administrator/section, Environmental Health | | Administrator/section; and the Health Equity Manager and | | department health equity work. Provides guidance with financial | | management, personnel, accreditation standards, and program | | outcomes and improvement. Supports staff and evaluates program | | effectiveness, prioritizes issues and objectives, creates | | community resources and integrates services and partnerships. | | - Collaborates in department strategic planning and implementation, | | budget requests and budget monitoring. Ensures community health | | needs are represented in budget requests. | | - Reviews and determines implications of proposed and actual | | legislative and regulatory changes to make recommendations based | | on data and statistical analysis, and financial impacts. | | - Serves as liaison with County and State departments and | | represents the Public Health Director at State and Local | | meetings, conferences, on boards, councils, and committees. Acts | | on behalf of the Health Director during absences by providing | | management oversight. | | - Carryout Performance Management (PM) roles and responsibilities, | | including identifying and communicating performance improvement | | opportunities and adjusting performance and practice to achieve | | established PM goals. | | - Implement strategies aimed at achieving Health Equity, including | | but not limited to: attending trainings to better understand | | inequities, identi ying and addressing barriers to health, | | serving on the Health Equity Team or its subcommittees, engaging | | in internal or external efforts to eliminate health disparities. | | - Participate in various preparedness and emergency response | | activities in order to be able to respond appropriately in a | | real-life event. Provide leadership and assistance in the event | | of a situation that threaten the public's health (i.e. disease | | outbreaks, natural disasters, etc). | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------+ | Minimum Qualifications: | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------+ | Master's Degree in Public Health or related field. | | | | Three years experience in management and/or supervision.
