Summary:
In this role, the Associate Director (AD) will support the Director to ensure all projects are executed, tracked, and communicated in a consistent and effective manner through the development and deployment of defined, repeatable, and measurable processes.
The AD will work to understand client processes and assist the clients to re-configure processes to maximize best practices and efficient use of wide Information Resources and Technology (IRT) resources. This position requires knowledge of university functions and will be responsible for the quality of IRT technology projects as well as the development and maintenance of existing Project Methodology and Systems Development Life Cycle processes within the project management office (PMO).
Responsibilities:
Primary responsibilities to include but not limited to the following:
Responsible to assist Director in the following areas:
Develop and/or improve PMO processes.
Perform quality assurance within projects and processes, development, and measurement of key performance indicators.
Provide support to the project managers in the planning and executing of all projects to ensure project costs, schedule and scope are managed within approved constraints.
Ensure the project managers and project team members understand their respective responsibilities and foster accountability.
Confer with project teams to provide advice and resolve issues.
Administer use of project management software including but not limited to managing licenses and developing best practices around use of application.
Develop consistent dashboards and reports to communicate project status to internal and external stakeholders.
Identify key tasks and milestones to include in project planning for consistent operational reporting.
Participate in assessing PMO project and feasibility study requests with key stakeholders including IRT leadership, facilities leadership, staff, and external vendors.
Management of PMO team with possible direct reporting responsibilities within in a year of position.
Train colleagues and stakeholders on project management processes, as well as best practices.
Participate in the development and implementation of university-wide IRT strategic initiatives.
Assist IRT organizations and university-wide departments with process improvement initiatives, using proven tools to define, measure, and analyze issues. Develop solutions to solve the issues and track the improvements to ensure they are real and sustainable.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in related discipline.
Ten (10) years of practical project management experience with a strong focus in the following project areas: IT (Applications, Infrastructure, Facilities, other related areas), process & quality improvement, and auditing.
Experience leading a minimum of one (1) program overseeing a group of related projects while at Rowan University.
Ability to mentor others, including peers, in the execution of projects.
Experience with project development utilizing PMBOK & Agile industry standards.
Ability to function effectively in a team environment.

Desired Qualifications:
At least five (5) years of quality assurance experience and/or process development and improvement methodologies (i.e., Six Sigma, Lean).
At least eight (8) years of IT and higher education/ business work experience.
PMP or other project-related certification.
