The primary function of the Ceiling Foreman I is to work as part of the crew in completing a construction project in a timely manner with good quality. Additionally, our Ceiling Foreman must be well-versed in all the necessary elements of the construction project assigned.

This is skilled work at the supervisory craftsman level in the installation of ceilings while following all applicable safety rules and regulations. An employee occupying a position in this job classification performs work at the supervisory level over a team of craftsmen engaged in the installation of ceilings. Duties include performing skilled craftsman work; supervising mechanics, helpers, and laborers; planning work and project schedules; training workers; completing necessary paperwork; and creating a safe, efficient project environment. Duties are performed under the supervision of a project foreman, a project superintendent, or a project manager. Work is checked by reports, conferences, and on-site visits. Accountability for project efficiency and employee safety rests with this level of supervision. All work will be expected to meet KENPAT quality and quantity standards.

Requirements

Performs all work of a Lead Ceiling Mechanic plus the following:

  • Previous experience with drywall and metal framing a must.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
  • Checks that the project site conforms to all safety rules and regulations of N-RG and OSHA.
  • Assign work to team members and give instructions for properly completing the assigned tasks.
  • Instruct team members in regard to safety, both through observance and safety toolbox meetings.
  • Ensure that all toolbox meetings are properly held and reported.
  • Inspects work while in progress to ensure quality and quantity.
  • Discipline team members for misconduct and counsel for conduct and performance.
  • Release materials and equipment for the project and ensure that they are properly accounted for and stored in accordance with the company's policies.
  • Anticipates material, equipment, and other problems and reacts to them with proper solutions.
  • Inspect scaffolding to ensure correct assembly and use.
  • Acts as liaison between the company and the customer.
  • Maintains daily logs and goal activities.
  • Verify drawings.
  • Ensure that all OJT sessions are being held and properly reported.
  • Performs any related work that may be required and/or instructed.
  • Establishes activity goals.
  • Skill in the use of manpower and materials toward maintaining goals, schedules, profit, and elimination of waste.
  • Ability to ensure quality and quantity.
  • Knowledge of most equipment and materials used in the ceiling industry.
  • Knowledge of local codes.
  • Ability to communicate with all project personnel.
  • Ability to read blueprints, shop drawings, and specifications and interpret them to others.
  • Ability to respond to supervision, both orally and in writing concerning projects and team members.
  • Skill to perform most activities on the installation of ceilings.
  • Ability to work on scaffolds and other high structures.
  • Knowledge and ability to perform seismic installation.
  • Skill to operate a transit and builders level.
