As a result of our rapid growth and expanding operations, we have an immediate opening for an experienced Safety & Training Specialist to support our team.  The Safety & Training Specialist will anticipate, recognize, evaluate, and control hazards in the workplace while engaging employees in the development of a strong EH&S culture.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS (Required Tasks)

  • Assists Leadership Team with driving Safety as a core value. 
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local health, environmental, and safety practices and regulations.
  • Evaluates processes, equipment, and process specific safety plans to identify EHS related concerns.
  • Recommends solutions and takes action to drive improvements, reduce hazards, and risk.
  • Inspects work areas and equipment to ensure compliance with company, state, and federal safety policies and regulations.
  • Develops and tracks EHS key performance indicators (KPIs) 
  • Writes procedures, Toolbox Talks and other communications to document and educate employees.
  • Tracks and orders PPE and/or EHS equipment.
  • Provides required safety training and general onboarding for all new hires. 
  • Develops and presents additional training programs as needed to respond to changes or mitigate risk. 
  • Maintains company training matrix and training by position matrix
  • Monitors training dates and ensures retraining is completed as required.
  • Leads Incident Investigations and Safety Committee. Follows up on corrective and preventive actions to drive closure of incident investigations.
  • Administers Workers' Compensations cases
  • Performs daily safety walks to ensure EH&S practices are being observed and to note any at-risk behaviors, unsafe conditions, faulty equipment, or non-compliance with any EH&S related policies/regulations.
  • Completes job safety analysis for new machinery/equipment to ensure all required standards are met.
  • Provide as-needed after hours support to assist with emergency situations
  • Generates and maintains EHS documents and records, including meeting agendas/minutes, training records, certification records, medical evaluations, SDS files, permits, etc.

     *SKILL SET *

  • Associate degree in Engineering, Life Safety, Environmental Studies, Occupational Health and Safety or related field preferred.

  • Two or more years' experience within Environmental, Health, and Safety in a manufacturing setting required.
  • Must complete specialized training such as: First Aid/CPR/AED; OSHA 30-hr.; Fall Protection; within the first 12 months of hire.
  • Strong presentation skills required.
