Aerotek Roller Operator in Greenbelt, Maryland

Job Title: Roller Operator

Job Description

We are immediately hiring Roller Operators for our construction crew. In this role, you will be responsible for unloading tools, setting up equipment, and preparing work areas. You'll follow project instructions from the construction foreman and/or supervisor, measure and mark layout areas, and use various construction tools to complete daily tasks. This includes operating machinery like skid steers, asphalt pavers, and rollers, and understanding all aspects of the paving industry. Additionally, you will perform equipment maintenance and assist with equipment cleanup as needed. This position requires working outdoors in various weather conditions and completing all assigned tasks efficiently while upholding high standards for quality and safety.

Note that this role is not solely based on operating rollers; you will also assist the crew with shoveling, luting, and other paving/milling tasks as directed.

Shift

  • Candidates must be open to working day or night shifts.

  • Monday to Saturday 06:00AM to 04:30PM

  • Sunday to Thursday, 07:00PM to 05:00AM

Hard Skills

  • Experience with construction and maintenance tools (shovels, rakes, jackhammers, drills, saws, grinders, torches)

  • Skilled in operating machinery (skid steer, asphalt paver, roller)

  • Knowledge of paving industry (grades, drainage, paving patterns, aggregate size, job specifications, oil consistencies, compaction)

Soft Skills

  • Ability to follow instructions

  • Efficiency and quality-focused

Work Site

Service areas include St. Mary's County and occasionally DC and Northern Virginia.

Work Environment

Outdoor construction environment with exposure to varying weather conditions and hot asphalt.
