This position will work as part of a growing team of The Hartford's Energy underwriters to provide specialized underwriting, insurance coverage and risk management services supporting the profitable growth of the dedicated Energy practice.

Working in a team environment and under the supervision of energy leadership, this position will collaborate to complete new and renewal business production underwriting, service accounts, identify key energy agents/brokers, implement sales and marketing activities and demonstrate a strong customer focus and thorough understanding of The Hartford energy practice’s appetite and strategy which is focused on oil & gas, renewable energy and more.

This role can have a Hybrid or Remote work arrangement. Candidates who live near one of our office locations will have the expectation of working in an office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday). Candidates who do not live near an office will have a remote work arrangement, with the expectation of coming into an office as business needs arise.

    Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of P&C Middle Market Carrier Underwriting experience is required; energy sector strongly preferred.

  • College degree, industry designation, or equivalent business experience.

  • Energy UW experience related to oil & gas, renewable energy (wind/solar) or surface mining risks a plus.

  • Experience with large, loss sensitive accounts & program structures a plus.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent time management and organization skills.

  • Strong negotiation skills

  • High energy and positive demeanor with good interpersonal skills.

  • Must be self-motivated, organized, and able to thrive in a fast paced, dynamic, and team-oriented environment.

  • Ability to travel within the territory.

  • Travel 25% within the broker assigned territory.

  • Have a valid driver's license, as access to a company pool car will be provided.

  • The level of this position will be determined upon careful examination of the selected candidate's qualifications, experience, and skills.

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$121,760-$182,640
