The Swimming Pool Attendant shall have the qualifications, technical knowledge, experience, and skills required to efficiently provide swimming pool maintenance and operations services. The Swimming Pool Attendant shall be responsible for maintaining all systems and equipment associated with adult and children pool operations. All work shall be completed per approved and accepted industry and equipment manufacturers’ standards and shall comply with building and safety codes, local, and federal regulations, and other technical requirements. Workmanship for maintenance and repair shall include all work necessary to complete facility and system restoration, including touch-up painting and operational checks. Upon completion of work, the Swimming Pool Attendant shall ensure facilities, systems, and equipment are free of missing components or defects which would affect the safety, appearance, or useability of the facilities and structures or would prevent any electrical, mechanical, plumbing or structural system from functioning in accordance with design intent.
Repairs shall be made in accordance with the manufacturers’ specifications and guidelines, and standard building codes. The quality of repairs shall meet the applicable standards and shall prevent any malfunction reoccurrences caused by poor workmanship or other inadequacies.
The Swimming Pool Attendant shall maintain and treat pool water and accomplish bacteriological and chemical analyses to ensure water quality is at an acceptable level. The chlorine is to be maintained between 1.0-3.0 mg/l and the pH is maintained 7.2 as a minimum and 7.8 as a maximum while keeping the pool clean and safe.
Use of a Computer Maintenance Management System (Maximo) to correctly capture data related to maintenance work orders, preventative maintenance inspections, and emergency/urgent customer requests. Uses a Tablet to track work orders, request material, add labor and material used against a work order.
Responsibilities
Performs all assigned duties as safely and efficiently as possible while maintaining a safe working environment.
Installs, removes, and refurbishes various aspects of the plumbing system in the pool including, but not limited to supply and return water lines and the filtration systems.
May perform various repairs to the pools and structure of the mechanical rooms.
Adds chemicals as needed to maintain proper chlorine and pH levels.
Able to read and interpret work orders, parts requests, schematics/blueprints, and manuals to accomplish assigned duties.
Maintains systems and equipment associated with adult and children pools.
Performs nonrecurring maintenance requirements and associated documentation.
Ensures swimming pool systems conform to written guidance and applicable changes.
Maintains the required operating forms and records and assures proper use of assigned shop equipment.
Responsible for on-the-job training as required.
May perform duties after normal duty hours and on weekends and holidays.
Performs other duties as assigned in accordance with contractual, functional and mission requirements.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Industrial training certificate/ diploma in swimming pool maintenance
Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent
Must have a valid home country vehicle driving license.
Experience
Five (5) years related experience in commercial swimming pool operation and maintenance required
Skills
Working knowledge of a variety of pool maintenance mechanic’s hand tools, including measuring and assorted power tools.
General knowledge of plumbing, electrical, masonry and carpentry skills required.
The Swimming Pool Attendant shall be a Certified Pool Operator or Aquatic Facility Operator or be able to obtain the certification within six (6) months of the date of hire.
Excellent communication and people skills.
Above average ability to perform mathematic calculations and use a calculator.
Able to utilize computer automated systems to perform assigned duties.
Additional Requirements
The Swimming Pool Attendant shall receive blood borne pathogen training and be enrolled in the local blood borne pathogen program as appropriate.
The Swimming Pool Attendant shall receive Hazard communication training and appropriate storage practices for pool chemical
The Swimming Pool Attendant shall submit proof of all certification and training requirements to his supervisor.
