Overall, Purpose of this Job:

As the Director, Communications and Public Affairs you will play a pivotal role in developing and executing strategic plans to enhance the Company's reputation, Public Affairs, External positioning, sustainability/ESG, Reputation and Internal Communications initiatives. Reporting into the Head of Communications & Public Affairs for MedTech EMEA and partnering with the MD, MedTech France, Business Unit Leaders, and with other critical functions such as Government Affairs & Policy, Global Health Equity, Market Access, MAF, etc.

The responsibilities & the impact YOU will have:

  • Develop and execute a MedTech France strategy to strengthen the companys public affairs impact with key external stakeholders, including by further nurturing partnerships with Patient and Healthcare professionals representative bodies, Media, Public Affairs bodies, Think Tanks, Trade Associations and where appropriate, Public Hospitals and Academia.

  • Lead a small team that will address the Communications/Public Affairs needs of MedTech France to shape the reputation, public affairs landscape, employee engagement and trade associations and public bodies impacting our business by increasing J&J MTs presence on relevant social and traditional media, participation as thought-leader in various forums; amplifying the companys public policy positions including formulating positioning on sustainability, social impact and public affairs approach.

  • Work in close liaison with the global Communications and Brand Marketing teams, Medical Affairs, Market Access, Government Affairs and Policy function etc.

  • This role will require the successful candidate to lead strategy as well as being hands on in operational execution. It is expected that the team will work on a mix of projects v owning one specific area

  • Lead in the positioning of MedTech France with all stakeholders with measurable impact, including ESG, media, public affairs approach working across functions such as HEMA, Regulatory and Medical Affairs to optimize results.

  • Manage internal and external communications enhancing the organization's brand reputation and ensuring consistency in messaging across all channels.

  • Responsible for MedTech France digital strategy and engagement, including organizational communications, social media, crisis and issues and external relations in accordance with J&J governance processes.

  • Build/implement disease awareness campaign on key diseases in partnership with Patient Advocacy groups.

  • Collaborate with marketing and omnichannel teams to ensure consistent messaging, branding and business strategy and provide with an integrated, cohesive, and engaging customer experience across channels.

  • Monitor and assess key developments in external health, economic, science and innovation environment, identify the opportunities and threats to the business and develop appropriate public affairs plans to compliantly engage and strengthen the companys approach in line with Johnson & Johnson's strategic and commercial objectives.

  • Maintain highly effective external networks with key business influencers to shape industry agenda and build reputation via the appropriate communication channels.

Additional components of the role:

  • Work with all levels of Johnson & Johnson to develop and convey MedTech positioning and reputation issues pertinent to Johnson & Johnson in France and articulate a strategic response to those issues.

  • Raise the profile and reputation of MedTech France to positively position the company and create an understanding of the company's impact on the communities we serve and the healthcare environment in France.

  • Support global J&J MedTech VIP visits and high-level Summit meetings

  • Define a coherent, integrated communications and public affairs strategy (including employee engagement) for MedTech France, aligned to business priorities and corporate guidelines.

Qualifications

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :

  • Proven experience (10 years) in a senior corporate or communications role, preferably in a similar industry or organization.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and persuasively.

  • Degree-level, strategic thinker with the ability to translate business and Public Affairs objectives into effective CPA strategies.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in media relations, crisis management, social media campaigns, corporate activism and stakeholder engagement.

  • In-depth knowledge and experience of the national healthcare industry, ideally gained through at least 6 years of work experience in the industry, consultancy, trade association or public affairs function in a corporation.

  • Ability to thrive in a constantly evolving matrix organization and to manage multiple priorities effectively.

  • Good understanding of the healthcare sector and able to translate public policy into a strategic action plan, preferably with med tech experience.

  • Interest in health, med tech; pharmaceuticals, passion to work in the healthcare sector.

  • An ability to take initiative and anticipate emerging issues of importance to the company and the sector, and to prioritize appropriately.

  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, excellent leadership and influencing skills.

  • Proven collaboration and cross-functional team working

  • Strong (fluency in) English (skills)
