Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s Quality and Reliability Engineering Teams analyze the ability of product and production systems to comply with customer and contractual requirements through established reliability factors. They design, recommend revisions and install quality control systems, develop and document analytical methods for establishing reliability of products and their components and conduct analysis on relative reliability with regards to cost, structure, weight, maintainability, facility of production, and availability of materials and equipment. Out teams develop, implement and monitor company environmental safety programs and policies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, health and safety regulations and recommend corrective actions if necessary. They are responsible for policies and practices to comply with applicable government regulations and industry requirements related to product environmental compliance, the implementation and management of technical and testing standards and specifications, quality control and reliability programs governing materials, product and processes, resulting in the optimization of material and labor, as well as failure analysis, root cause, corrective action and customer communication.

Main Objective:

  • Ensure that new programs are launched to meet / exceed customer expectations and the business unit’s launch metrics. Actively work with Customers, Product Engineering and Advanced Manufacturing teams located in regional and global locations. Actively engage with manufacturing sites in U.S. and Mexico for successful new product introduction.

Responsibilities and authority

  • Responsible for Supplier Quality. Bring suppliers level to excellence.

  • Manage Suppliers Scorecards.

  • Drive Focus supplier programs.

  • Active participation in process analysis, design reviews, product quality, process validation and Safe Launch

  • Active involvement with Customers to capture Voice of customer in TE’s manufacturing process to drive flawless execution of new project launches.

  • Serve as strong “Voice of the Customer” to the internal organization

  • Expertise in supplier development working with cross functional teams to drive successful and flawless execution

  • Drive the FMEA process within the organization to ensure closed loop process with lessons learned incorporated into standard FMEA.

  • Strong background with automotive and high-volume manufacturing

  • Drive accountability in the supplier base.

  • Coordinate Customer Concern Resolutions and address systemic issues in the design/process development.

  • Lead a team of Supplier Quality Engineers in U.S. and Mexico.

  • Responsible for incoming inspection

  • Use of advanced risk analysis tools to understand internal and external risk

  • Develop risk mitigation plans to apprise leadership and deliver mature product lines to manufacturing plants

  • Lead, coach and mentor staff in a constant and consistent manner to unleash people to realize their maximum potential

  • Successful candidate will have significant experience with Tier 1 automotive manufacturing background

  • Strategic thinking and a 4DX/QSB approach to drive proactive lead measures

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives from a process and systemic perspective to improve Cost of Poor Quality and response time to customers

  • Challenge status-quo and develop teams to own and drive continuous improvement mentality

What your background should look like:

Education :

  • BS degree in Engineering from an accredited university

  • Master’s in engineering or MBA preferred

Professional experience:

  • Experience and knowledge of FMEA

  • +10 years of experience

  • Prior experience or background in Manufacturing Engineering / Product Engineering is strongly desired

  • Heavy Experience Tier 1 / OEM environment

  • Experience with Minitab or other statistical software strongly desirable.

  • Specific qualification, knowledge and skills  IATF-16949 requirements - certification preferred

  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or advanced knowledge and use of Shainin tools preferred

  • Good working knowledge of automotive control systems

  • Hands on experience with all tools of IATF 16949, VDA6.3 and Root Cause Analysis.

  • A strong sense of urgency and ability to multi-task in a very fast paced global business environment is required

  • Ability to think out of the box

  • Challenge status-quo and drive innovation

  • Proficiency in working with Microsoft Office tools and other software products

  • Travel within US, Mexico and other international locations as required

  • Strong aptitude for problem-solving

  • Valid Visa (Mandatory).
