Queen's Health System Endoscopic Procedure Tech- GI Colon Screening (Call-In, Varied Shifts) in Honolulu, Hawaii

RESPONSIBILITIES

*UPDATED STARTING RATE: $26.05/hr

I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Performs a variety of special endoscopic and interventional procedures.

• Provides patient care during procedures under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse (RN).

II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Essential: standing, finger dexterity, seeing, hearing; lifting and pushing/pulling maximum 50 pounds of force; carrying usual weight of 10 pounds; reaching above, at and below shoulder level; repetitive arm/hand motions, static gripping of an object for prolonged periods, frequent gripping on an object.

• Frequent: walking, speaking.

• Occasional: stooping/bending, kneeling, crawling, climbing stairs, walking on uneven ground, squatting, twisting body.

• Operates various office, radiographic and hospital equipment.

III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions.

• Subjected to noise/vibration from radiographic equipment noise.

• Exposure to body fluids, communicable diseases, moving mechanical parts, chemicals, radiation, odors and skin irritants.

• Work environment is fast paced, frequently stressful; works on multiple tasks and priorities at the same time and requires critical decision-making.

IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:

• High school diploma or equivalent education.

• Current GTS (GI Technical Specialist) certification by SGNA (Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates). If not certified upon hire, certification must be obtained within six (6) months of entrance into the position as a condition of employment.

• Current certification in BLS/HCP.

B. EXPERIENCE:

• One (1) year experience as an Endoscopic Procedure Technician, preferably in a comparable medical center; OR, one (1) year experience providing direct patient care, such as Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, etc., and demonstrated ability to perform duties and responsibilities of job.

• Experience to demonstrate basic knowledge of aseptic technique.

• Ability to communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing.

• Knowledge of automated systems preferred.

• Experience in cleaning and disinfection of instruments/scopes preferred.
