Job Description

Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Facilities Team Leader to join our team in Horsham. As the Team Leader, you will have the unique opportunity to manage a team of 5 engineers and ensure the efficient and reliable operation of our facilities and utilities systems. This role is crucial in supporting the packaging and distribution of pharmaceutical products that positively impact lives worldwide.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and provide leadership to a team of 5 engineers, overseeing day-to-day operations and maintenance activities for facilities and utilities systems.

  • Ensure compliance with the asset management system requirements.

  • Manage change controls for facilities and utilities systems, ensuring proper documentation, review, and approval.

  • Create and update GMP documentation, including SOPs and work instructions.

  • Implement preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and ensure equipment reliability.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement energy-saving initiatives.

  • Coordinate and manage contractors and vendors for facility-related projects.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve facilities or utilities-related issues promptly.

  • Stay up to date with industry trends and advancements, incorporating relevant technologies and practices into operations.

  • Provide guidance and mentorship to team members.

  • Participate in the 24/7 department call out rota.

Requirements:

  • Recognized qualification (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field) or equivalent technical experience.

  • Experience in managing change controls and creating/updating GMP documentation.

  • Minimum 5 years of facilities and utilities engineering experience in a pharmaceutical or highly regulated industry.

  • Experience completing EHS & Quality Risk Assessments, ideally including FMEA.

  • Strong knowledge of facilities and utilities systems.

  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements such as cGMP, MHRA & HSWA.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive and hands-on approach.

  • Strong communication and leadership skills.

  • Project management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.

  • Proficiency in computer applications and software related to facilities and utilities.
