MRI, a woman-owned Technologies and Engineering Services company, has an exciting opportunity for aSystems Software Engineering Integration Leadonthe JETS II Contract at NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX.We are excited about what we do, and we need you on our team as we take on exciting challenges for NASA's pursuits in deep space exploration.

As aSystems Software Engineering Integration Leadyou will:

  • Requesting products, communicating, coordinating, planning organizing, scheduling Technical Information Meetings and leading discussions related to Gateway Habitation And Logistics Outpost (HALO) Software and Integration with the broader Co-Manifeast Vehicle (CMV).
  • Perform Insight and Oversight of formal software release deliveries from cross organizational teams. Assessing for function and use case completeness and identifying any gaps and non-compliances against interfaces and requirements.
  • Support the CMV software change control panel, coordinating with the panel chair and board members for planned agenda, deliverables, build planning and acceptance, and technical interchange meetings. This role will be pivotal in ensuring that software changes are managed effectively across the software development teams, and ensuring alignment with project timelines and quality standards.
  • Coordinate and develop software build plans and acceptance processes, including build acceptance criteria for planned builds. Provide technical and programmatic recommendations for the software product acceptance processes being executed.
  • Collect, identify, track, and present change requests and discrepancy/defect reports for software deliverables, providing early warnings of risks and issues during the early
  • Gateway/CMV integration phases. Propose and lead initiatives to address these challenges, enhancing the integration process and outcomes.
  • Coordinate reviews and analysis of testing results and software products, assuring their correctness, reliability, and superior performance, setting new standards for software quality.
  • Lead thorough reviews and audits for Gateway program software development processes and products to ensure they comply with NASA's standards and processes.
  • Identifying, tracking, and mitigating risks associated with software development and deployment.
  • Meticulous attention to detail in reviewing software designs, code, and documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Deep understanding of software engineering principles and methodologies, especially in the context of safety-critical systems.
  • Ability to document and present technical information clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing on JIRA tickets and Confluences Collaborative Tools.

Requisition Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent certification in a related area and normally possess 15 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
  • Technical (General)
    • Experience with Software Engineering principles and methodologies.
    • Experience with the development of space systems requirements documents including functional requirements and verification success criteria.
    • Experience with developing software build plans and acceptance process.
    • Experience in risk assessment and implementation of risk reducing measures.
  • Technical (Avionics and Software)
    • Software Testing and Verification (including Independent VandV).
    • Writing/reviewing test and verification definitions.
    • Avionics CandDH (Command and Data Handling).
  • Professional
    • Demonstrate leadership through successful collaboration with external organizations.
    • Proficiency with team collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams, Webex, Skype,SharePoint, Jira.
    • Experience working as part of an Integrated Product Team to develop avionic systems.
    • Excellent communication, negotiation and coordination skills and strong customer service attitude.
    • Experience fostering a collaborative team environment.
    • Must be able to organize and prioritize tasks in order to meet deadlines and schedules with limited supervision.

Requisition Preferences:

  • Knowledge of Safety Critical Human-Rated Software Development.
  • Knowledge of Human Rated Mature Software Processes.
  • Knowledge of Real Time Operating Systems (RTOS).
  • Knowledge of systems engineering principles and associated documentation.
  • Knowledge of commonly used NASA concepts, practices, processes and procedures relating to mechanical and electrical system design, engineering drawings and sketches, material selection, and design software and tools.
  • Knowledge of the NASA Gateway Spacecraft systems and software, specifically for the Habitation and Logistics Outpost (HALO).
  • Experience with Core Flight System (cFS) Applications (or similar flight software framework).
  • Experience with Time Triggered Ethernet (or similar protocols such as ARINC 664).
  • Experience working as part of an Integrated Product Team to develop avionic systems.
  • Fault Detection, Isolation and Recovery (FDIR) for Distributed Avionics Architectures.
  • Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI).
  • Familiarity with:- Software project management experience.
  • Safety Critical Human-Rated Software Development Processes.
  • NASA software and systems development standards (incl NPR 7150.2).
  • NASA/JSC documentation databases as well as typical systems engineering products.
  • NASA/JSC engineering processes.
  • Object oriented software development.
  • Agile software development.
  • C/C++ coding.
  • Linux.
  • Scripting languages such as Python.
  • ARINC 664, 653, SAE AS6802 or RTC DO178.
  • Data Validation.
  • Code Review.
  • Unit Testing.
  • Algorithm Design Document.
  • Run for Record test and results.

Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency may be a requirement for this position.
