The Mission Systems Operations Contract (MSOC) has an excellent opportunity for a Reliability, Maintainability, and Availability (RMA) Engineer to facilitate design changes to NASA Johnson Space Center’s Mission Control Center (MCC), Backup Control Center (BCC), Mission Training Center (MTC), and Space Vehicle Mockup Facility (SVMF).

The applicant will work in a dynamic team environment and will collaborate with MSOC Systems Engineers and Platform/OS Engineers to evaluate requirements/designs and to facilitate changes across the MSOC facilities’ hardware and software systems. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written, are required for customer interactions. Strong initiative, teamwork and problem-solving skills are also required.

Primary Responsibilities:• Work with customers, users, and engineers to effectively analyze user requirements, user stories, and operations concepts.• Apply RMA analysis techniques to recommend RMA-based technical solutions to engineering problems.• Support the generation and the analysis of system availability metrics for the MSOC facilities.• Build and maintain RMA models and associated block diagrams.• Create and/or update documentation for design and change instruments.• Perform post data processing, post data reduction, and data mining.• Perform system analysis, assessments, trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.• Develop RMA related inputs to requests For proposal and evaluate proposal responses.• Contribute to systems architecture design and system integration efforts.• Provide RMA support to the MSOC implementing organizations and external customers.• Communicate inward to the MSOC organization and outward to customer contacts.• Work effectively in a team setting to collaborate ideas.

Qualifications:EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Requires BS in Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, or similar technical degree plus 0 – 5 years of related experience.

Required Skills:• The ability to work independently with minimal supervision and professionally represent the MSOC organization.• Highly motivated individual willing to learn and apply new concepts, tools, and software.• Good verbal and written communication skills, especially with other organizations.• Strong personal initiative.• Good problem solving and troubleshooting skills.• Ability to work effectively in a team setting.

Desired Skills:• Understanding of human spaceflight requirements.• Leadership skills.• Knowledge of NASA JSC MCC, MTC, and SVMF facility subsystems.• Knowledge of NASA BCC facility subsystems at Huntsville, AL and White Sands, NM.• Experience with ServiceNow or similar ITIL workflow toolset.• Experience across various areas of the systems engineering lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, and documentation.• Experience with agile development practices.• Knowledge of Reliability, Maintainability, and Availability (RMA) concepts, techniques, and tools.• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
