I. CLERK TYPIST Department - Children and Youth Services Supervisor - Administrative Assistant/Administrator Date Revised -- February 2013 II. Job Statement This position exists under direct supervision to provide clerical support services to the Children and Youth Services Department. III. Job Duties/Responsibilities 1 Provide receptionist services by answering the telephone, greeting customers and providing direction and appropriate information. 2. Types correspondence, reports, testimonies etc. from handwritten draft and/or dictated magnetic tapes into draft or final form according to predesigned formats. Proofreads documents to assure accuracy. 3. Maintains agency statistics. 4. Open case records and file court petitions. 5. Open mail, sort, record, and file documents and make copies. Logs or records the amount. type disposition, and number of incoming or outgoing mail, forms, documents, phone calls, etc. 6. Receives applications, documents, forms and fees directly form the public and screens, sorts, assembles for further processing. 7. Able to react productively to change and handle other essential duties as assigned. IV. Job Specifications A. Education - High school diploma or equivalent required. B. Experience - Skill in using a computer and related software. C. General Requirements Good working knowledge of office terminology, procedures and equipment, including a typewriter and telephone. Good knowledge of business arithmetic and English grammar. Ability to speak and write English effectively. Ability to type from clear copy or rough draft at a reasonable rate of speed. Clerk Typist - 2 Ability to understand and follow simple oral and/or written instructions. Ability to communicate in an appropriate manner and get along well with others. Ability to make minor decisions using good judgment and acting in accordance with established policies or regulations. D. Specific Requirements Knowledge of the required care and maintenance of a typewriter. E.
