As a Multi-Craft Maintenance Technician specializing in electrical systems at our manufacturing plant, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of production equipment and facilities. This role requires a skilled individual with expertise in electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair within an industrial setting. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a proactive approach to maintenance, a strong commitment to safety, and the ability to work effectively in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on electrical systems, machinery, and equipment to minimize downtime and optimize performance.

  • Troubleshoot electrical malfunctions using diagnostic tools, schematics, and technical manuals.

  • Repair or replace defective components, such as motors, switches, relays, and wiring, to ensure reliable operation.

  • Conduct inspections of electrical systems to identify potential issues and address them proactively.

  • Provide technical support for production equipment, including CNC machines, conveyors, robotics, and other automated systems.

  • Collaborate with operations and engineering teams to implement modifications or upgrades to enhance equipment functionality and efficiency.

  • Assist with the installation, calibration, and commissioning of new equipment as needed.

  • Adhere to all safety protocols, lockout/tagout procedures, and regulatory requirements related to electrical maintenance activities.

  • Conduct risk assessments and implement safety measures to mitigate hazards associated with electrical systems and equipment.

  • Participate in safety training programs and promote a culture of safety awareness among maintenance and production personnel.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, inspections, and equipment history.

  • Document electrical modifications, repairs, and upgrades for future reference and regulatory compliance.

  • Generate reports on equipment performance, downtime incidents, and maintenance metrics to track key performance indicators.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for process optimization, energy efficiency improvements, and cost savings related to electrical maintenance.

  • Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action initiatives to address recurring equipment failures or reliability issues.

  • Recommend and implement best practices for electrical maintenance to enhance overall equipment reliability and uptime.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in electrical engineering, industrial maintenance, or a related field preferred.

  • 3 years of experience in electrical maintenance, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, controls, and components, including PLCs, motor controls, and variable frequency drives (VFDs).

  • Basic AC/DC certification preferred.

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation.

  • Familiarity with electrical testing and measurement instruments, such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and megohmmeters.

  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a dynamic production environment.

  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and overtime, as needed.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to climb ladders.

  • Must be able to walk, lift, push and pull.

  • Must be able to show the ability to safely wear fall arrest protection.

  • Work is performed in a heavy industrial environment with high levels of noise, dust, heat and in cold conditions.
