**[Educational and Experience Requirement: [Bachelors degree in Homeland Security Studies, including but not limited to Security Studies, Public Policy, Political Science, or related field. Masters degree preferred. Knowledge and skill in applying principles and practices of project management, basic and applied research methods, and related fields of operations. Eight years of combined experience working in one or more of the following Critical Infrastructure (CI) areas: Transportation, Energy, Chemical, Healthcare, Information Technology, Water/Wastewater, Critical Manufacturing, or Commercial Facilities or in a related field. Experience in a leadership/management role in a company or government agency preferred. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.

**[Nature and Purpose of Position: [Manages and directs the support staff and budget for IHS. Supports research and education activities in one or more CI areas. These activities include the development of professional education courses, leading CI protection collaboration events, and facilitating applied research to inform policies, procedures, and practices for CI resiliency strategies. Oversees projects and coordinates with researchers, public organizations, private industry, and consultants. Ensures projects are on schedule and within the prescribed budget. Will facilitate public and private partnerships in one or more of the CI areas.

**[Primary Responsibilities: [Directs day-to-day project activities for support and administrative staff. Supports major projects to ensure deliverables are achieved. Responsible for identifying additional sources of funding for the Institute. Works closely with the Executive Director and Deputy Director to review and assess the outputs of the Institute, determine strategic direction, and to develop educational, informational, and research products produced by the Institute. Other specific duties would relate directly to assigned projects. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge of SHSU budget and administrative processes and how to navigate them. Communicates regularly with supervisors about research and project activities. [Knowledge of one or more of the CI sectors of Transportation, Energy, Chemical, Healthcare, Information Technology, Water/Wastewater, Critical Manufacturing, or Commercial Facilities. Knowledge and skill in applying principles and practices of project management. Facilitates strategy-formulation and policymaking for CI resiliency based on applied research outcomes. Evaluates education and research products that will be of greatest practical use in strategy-formulation and policymaking for industry and government partners. Ability to create and maintain a creative and entrepreneurial work environment that sustains individual researchers and supports innovators. A high degree of collegiality working with university, government, and industry stakeholders, as well as other University departments, state and federal agencies and outside vendors. Strong oral and written communication skills.

[Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple, competing tasks and demands. Ability to assess quality of work. Ability to follow set procedures. Demonstrates excellent planning and organizational skills. Computer literacy on PC, using MS Office, and project management software.
