As a data collector, you will be responsible for gathering accurate and comprehensive data related to real property within Montgomery County, Kansas. Your role will be critical in supporting property assessments by collecting information on property characteristics, ownership details, and relevant market data. You will work closely with property owners and utilize various data collection tools to ensure the integrity and reliability of property data.

Roles and Responsibilities

  1. Field Data Collection:
  • Physically conduct field inspections and examine residential and commercial buildings to gather data relating to property valuation.
  • Verify property boundaries, land use designations, and other relevant information through on-site observations and documentation.
  1. Property Documentation:
  • Record accurate and detailed descriptions of properties, including structural features, improvements, and any significant changes or discrepancies.
  • Collect, update and maintain property file information through public records and direct inquiries.
  1. Data Entry and Management:
  • Enter collected data into the assessment database promptly and accurately, ensuring consistency and adherence to established standards.
  • Possess a strong attention to detail in data collection, documentation and entry.
  1. Communication and Collaboration:
  • Contact citizens, public officials, attorneys, realtors, property owners, and others to obtain necessary information and address inquiries or concerns.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees, the general public and other government entities.
  • Answer taxpayer inquiries, and communicate and assists with outside jurisdictions.
  1. Quality Assurance:
  • Conduct quality checks on collected data to identify errors, inconsistencies, or missing information, and take corrective actions as needed.
  • Assist in reviewing assessment data and reports for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with relevant regulations and guidelines.
  1. Training and Development:
  • Participate in training sessions and workshops to enhance knowledge of property assessment practices, data collection techniques, and relevant software tools.
  • Stay informed about changes in property laws, regulations, and assessment procedures to ensure compliance and proficiency in job duties.
