Position Overview:
The primary responsibilities of the candidate will be to support the iPSC and cell therapy group in various activities including media preparation, culturing iPSCs and running iPSC differentiation studies to pancreatic islets. Additional responsibilities are supporting team members in executing assays such as qPCR, flow cytometry and gene editing. You will also be expected to work across groups and functions to enable assessments of differentiated cells.
What You’ll Do:
Regularly interfaces with scientists in the group.
Communicates with scientists within the lab/team members and other labs regarding scheduling, processing, and delivery of media and cells
Takes initiative to record and communicate deviations, observations, and information relating to the project(s)
Diligent record keeping and regular updating of internal spreadsheets and electronic notebooks
Culture and differentiate human pluripotent stem cells toward the pancreatic islet cell lineage.
Preparation of cells for cryopreservation
Support scientists in performing assays such as qPCR, flow cytometry, molecular biology and gene editing.
Strong lab organization and maintenance skills
Familiarity with laboratory technology and instrumentation including centrifuges, cell counters, biosafety cabinets, pipetting, etc.
Ensures full compliance with all Lilly regulations, especially in regard to sterility, health, safety, and proper documentation
What You'll Need:
Bachelor’s in Biology or related field.
Minimum of one (1) year of experienceworking with:
stem cells and in mammalian cell culture; specifically pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs)
cryopreservation of biological samples
aseptically preparing large quantities of various cell culture media, reagents, buffer solutions
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted in lieu of above.
