Aerotek Bilingual Machine Operator in Indianapolis, Indiana
Job Description
The Machine Operator is responsible for the safe and productive operation of machines which may include Granulator, Shredder, Color System, Wet Sorter System and/or Extruder. This position includes material handling and maintaining a high-quality product.
Responsibilities
Understand, follow, and apply information from the Run Instruction Sheet (RIS).
Set up, run, shut down, troubleshoot, clean system, and perform general maintenance of machines.
Take regular and proper samples, systematically probe boxes as directed by RIS, and report inequities to lab personnel and supervisor.
Thoroughly clean boxes, lids, and skids prior to using them. Dispose of any substandard material before reusing.
Complete the Run Number Time Log at the end of each shift.
Update RIS as needed and pass information along to supervisor in a timely manner.
Keep work area clean and organized throughout the shift.
Maintain and properly complete logs for production ledgers (inbound, outbound, rejects, and run) and quality control.
Complete Work in Process (WIP) or Ready for Sale (RFS) tags.
Compute weights, competently using correct gross, tare, and net figures.
Weigh material in boxes and hoppers, and correctly record weights in appropriate places.
Become a certified operator on both a forklift and aerial lift as needed.
Assist with training new associates.
Load and unload material and place material into inventory locations using forklift or pallet jack.
Compute pounds per hour processed during run.
Compute percentages to document various run conditions and productivity standards.
Prepare boxes for material by placing labels in proper locations and/or removing extra labels.
Participate in shift meetings and training sessions.
Essential Skills
Bilingual (Spanish).
Manufacturing experience working around machines (ideally 1+ year).
Capacity for making mathematical computations, including adding, subtracting, and calculating percentages.
Good handwriting for record-keeping.
Experience troubleshooting in a manufacturing environment.
Sit down forklift experience.
Ability to stand for the duration of the shift outside of breaks.
Ability to lift up to 65 lbs, not repetitively.
Comfortable with heights to use an aerial lift as needed (25 feet with harness).
Steel toed or composite toed shoes (not provided).
Ability to work mandated Saturdays if business dictates.

Work Environment
The work environment is a traditional manufacturing setting where machines perform various tasks to receive and separate plastics materials. The systems can be very large, sometimes two stories high. The plant has some dust and noise, requiring hearing and eye protection. Employees must be willing to climb stairs or use aerial lifts to troubleshoot and fix jams. Despite being a plastics recycling plant, the environment is not very dirty.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of the Park 100 area in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.
