About The Role

A Senior Building Engineer is responsible for leading all aspects of designing, maintaining, and repairing a building's complex systems. They work to ensure that the building's mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems operate efficiently, safely, and effectively. A Senior Building Engineer will typically lead a team of engineers and technicians, coordinating projects and delegating tasks as needed. They are also responsible for developing and implementing plans to improve energy efficiency, and reduce operating costs. Additionally, Senior Building Engineers must keep up-to-date with regulatory requirements and safety standards and work closely with building owners and managers to ensure compliance. Overall, the role of a senior building engineer is crucial in ensuring the smooth operation of a building's essential systems.

What You’ll Do

  • Follows all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency and Company directives related to building operations and work safety.

  • Operates, maintains, monitors, and performs preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on building equipment, which may include: mechanical/HVAC/plumbing systems, electrical/cabling, fire detection and suppression, life safety, lighting, temperature control systems, building management systems, and digital systems.

  • Maintains the building lighting system, including element and ballast repairs or replacements.

  • Prepares estimates detailing the amount of time and materials needed for completing tasks.

  • Maintains adequate supplies and tools and orders necessary materials to complete all tasks.

  • Maintains an energy management program.

  • Oversees and inspects the work performed by outside contractors. Contracted work may include landscaping, snow removal, remodeling, HVAC, plumbing, and cleaning.

  • Performs work in compliance with standard operating procedures and/or critical work packages, and maintenance work instructions.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

No formal supervisory responsibilities in this position. Provides informal assistance such as technical guidance, and/or training to coworkers. Coordinates and assigns tasks to co-workers within a work unit and/or project.

What You’ll Need

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and eight or more years of demonstrated ability in electrical systems, refrigeration and/or HVAC or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Journey Level 06a Electrical License

  • City of Seattle Refrigeration Journeyman License

  • Universal Refrigerant Certification

  • Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills.

  • Efficient, reliable, and courteous customer service.

  • Effective information presentation.

  • Requires knowledge of financial terms and principles and to understand operating budgets.

  • Ability to calculate intermediate figures such as percentages, discounts, and/or commissions.

  • Conducts basic financial analysis.

  • Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret documents.

CBRE carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate’s education, training and experience. The salary range is $50 - $51 per hour. The compensation offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate’s skills, qualifications and experience.
