Jay Peak Resort Busser - Seasonal in Jay, Vermont

PART-TIME or FULL-TIME | SEASONAL POSITIONS AVAILABLE

The Busser is attentive to customers and coworkers needs in the dining room to provide the best service possible. This position maintains cleanliness and organization of dining room areas and its guests/staff by performing the following essential duties and responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (include the following, other duties may be assigned)

  • Prepares for guests by cleaning and setting or resetting tables.

  • Sets up any seasonal decorations, candles or tablecloths when necessary.

  • Greets patrons and, if needed, escorts guests to tables or restrooms and exits.

  • Assists guests by providing menus and helps to keep menus clean and presentable.

  • Serves water to guests and refills beverage glasses as needed.

  • Places and replaces silverware at the end of meals or as needed.

  • Delivers beverages from the bartender (if certified by the Vermont Department of Liquor Control).

  • Stocks wait staff serving stations with napkins, utensils, trays, condiments and salt/pepper containers.

  • Removes guests’ dirty dishes and utensils at the end of meals or as needed.

  • Delivers used dishes and utensils to the kitchen for cleaning.

  • Assists dishwashers to scrape, stack or load dishes into the dishwasher when necessary.

  • Vacuums, sweeps or mops dining room.

  • Removes trash/recycling and replaces trash bags.

  • Cleans up dining area spills as needed.

  • Follows and maintains all sanitation and safety procedures.

  • Performs closing duties such as cleaning chairs and tables, stacking chairs and prepping stations for next shift.

  • May assist kitchen staff with cleaning kitchen surfaces when necessary.

  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor, which could be directly related, or unrelated to original position.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

    This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.     EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

    Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    LANGUAGE SKILLS

    Ability to read a limited number of two and three syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

    Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.

    REASONING ABILITY

    Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one or two step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

    OTHER SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Must be able to move and clean quickly in a fast-paced environment.

  • Must possess a friendly, outgoing, polite and courteous demeanor with all patrons.

  • Must work well as part of a team and on individual tasks.

  • Must possess excellent verbal communication skills.

  • Must work well and efficiently under pressure.

  • Must be available to work nights and weekends and fill in as needed.

    While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms.     Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
