Facility Manager – Pest Control Program Owner
What you will do

In this vital role, you will be responsible for the development, implementation, management, and continuous improvement of the pest control system within Amgen Manufacturing Limited LLC (AML). This role ensures compliance with industry regulations, company policies, and the highest standards of hygiene and safety while mitigating any risks associated with pests in sensitive manufacturing, warehouses, laboratory environments, and other areas across the site. The position involves overseeing pest management contractors, coordinating inspections, participating in regulatory inspections, and managing the pest control systems while collaborating with various teams to ensure seamless and compliant operations.
Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Program Management:
Own and manage the overall pest control program for Amgen AML.
Develop and maintain pest control strategies, policies, and procedures to ensure effective pest management.
Oversee the implementation of pest control systems and technologies to safeguard product quality, manufacturing processes, and facility integrity.
Compliance & Regulatory Oversight:
Ensure the pest control program adheres to relevant local, state, and federal regulations, including FDA, GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), and other pharmaceutical industry standards.
Prepare for and support internal and external audits, inspections, and regulatory reviews related to pest management.
Maintain accurate and thorough records of pest control activities, including inspections, treatments, and corrective actions.
Collaboration and Coordination:
Work closely with the Facilities and Engineering, EH&S, Quality Assurance (QA), Project Controls, and Production teams to ensure pest control is integrated into operational processes.
Provide training to staff on best practices and pest control procedures to ensure awareness and compliance across departments.
Coordinate with external pest control contractors to conduct inspections, identify pest risks, and perform treatments.
Monitoring and Reporting:
Conduct regular inspections and pest monitoring in sensitive areas, such as production floors, laboratories, storage areas, and warehouses.
Analyze pest control data and trends, identify areas for improvement, and develop action plans to address emerging pest-related issues.
Prepare and present reports on pest control program performance to senior management, including recommendations for improvements.
Risk Management and Problem Resolution:
Identify potential pest-related risks and implement proactive measures to minimize the likelihood of infestations or contamination.
Address and resolve pest issues promptly, ensuring minimal impact on production schedules and product integrity.
Conduct/Support root cause analysis for pest-related incidents and implement corrective and preventive actions.
Continuous Improvement:
Continuously assess and improve pest control processes, technologies, and strategies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Stay current with industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices related to pest management in the pharmaceutical industry.
Lead initiatives to enhance sustainability and minimize environmental impact within the pest control program.

Basic Qualifications:
Doctorate degree
OR
Master’s degree and 2 years of hygiene and safety programs management experience
OR
Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of hygiene and safety programs management experience
OR
Associate’s degree and 8 years of hygiene and safety programs management experience
OR
High school diploma / GED and 10 years of hygiene and safety programs management experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Academic background in Environmental Science, Biology, Entomology, or Chemistry.
Certification in pest management or pest control (e.g., Associate Certified Entomologist or equivalent) is a plus.
Knowledge of pest control principles, technologies, and best practices in a pharmaceutical setting.
Experience presenting to different levels.
Understanding of regulatory requirements and standards for pest management.
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams and external vendors.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to influence staff and effect change outside of area of responsibility.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to perform inspections and walk through production and storage areas, potentially including confined spaces, elevated platforms, and other specialized environments.
Fluent English-speaking communication skills.
