Regular, Part-Time (50% FTE), RCUH Non-Civil Service position with the Windward Community College (WCC), TCUP Cyber Consortium Advancing Computer Science Education (TCACSE), located in Kaneohe, Hawaii. Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, availability of funds, and compliance with applicable Federal/State laws.

MONTHLY SALARY: $3,125/Mon. (@50% FTE)

DUTIES: Coordinates the operations of the WCC CHIPS: TCUP Cyber Consortium Advancing Computer Science Education project, funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) Tribal Colleges and Universities Program (TCUP). This project involves a collaboration with five other TCUP-eligible institution (Turtle Mountain Community College, Sitting Bull College, United Tribes Technical College, Din College, and Little Priest Tribal College) to develop innovative cybersecurity and computer science programs and establish a community of practice among TCUP institutions to share centralized resources, expertise, access to courses, and best practices in cyber-education. The project supports NSF and TCUP goals for implementing the CHIPS and Science Act in building and enhancing computer science curricula that improves the fundamental skills of critical thinking, problem-solving, coding, and collaboration used in academic or research activities and build capacity to support education and research in computing-related fields of national interest, such as cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, data science, and computer science education. TCACSE aims to bridge the gap between tribal education, workforce, and U.S. cybersecurity needs by building a supportive model for cyber education. Works with partner institutions to establish agreements and memorandums of understanding that do the following: outline the terms and conditions for collaboration; facilitate communication and sharing among the partner institutions; and facilitate articulation and transfer. Works with partner institutions to share instructional resources and promote knowledge exchange and faculty professional development. Works with partner institutions and industry, coordinates and implements opportunities for eligible students from WCC and partner institutions to obtain hands-on learning, recognized postsecondary credentials, financial support, student employment, relevant internships, and post-program employment opportunities in Computer Science and Cybersecurity. Collaborates with project staff and partner institutions to develop and implement strategies to increase enrollment in Information Security courses and program. Introduces students to cybersecurity events, such as hackathons, conferences, and SkillsUSA clubs at WCC and partnering institutions. Works with WCC and partner institution Computer Science faculty to coordinate curriculum development and class scheduling. Sustains current knowledge of national security and associated local information security organizations, maintaining awareness of applicable state jobs and national opportunities. Responsible for grant objectives and outcome completion, as well as data tracking for all project cohorts. Conducts analysis and ensures that all reports are completed and submitted within established deadlines. Tracks project budget and maintains all of the Research Corporation of the University of Hawaii (RCUH) policies and regulatory requirements. Attends meetings and makes presentations on the progress of the project.

PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION

Bachelors Degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university in

an information technology related field (Associate's Degree from an accredited community college and an additional two (2) years of related experience may substitute for a Bachelors Degree.)

EXPERIENCE

Three to five (3-5) years of experience

teaching or working in information technology, especially information security (cybersecurity), disciplines.

KNOWLEDGE

Familiarity with information technology, especially information security (cybersecurity) curricula. Knowledge of industry needs (in terms of employee knowledge and skills) in information technology and cybersecurity. Knowledge of potential internship opportunities in information technology, especially information security.

ABILITIES and SKILLS

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, and staff, as well as project collaborators, community partners, State and Federal agencies, and business organizations.
