Summary You will serve as a MARINE MACHINERY MECHANIC SUPERVISOR I in the MECHANICAL SHOP, PRODUCTION RESOURCES DEPARTMENT of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD. Responsibilities You will plan, assign and direct work at the work site. You will support the Equal Opportunity Employment Program. You will consult with supervisors on manpower, equipment needs and technical problems to prevent delays. You will instruct workers, correct improper methods, and interpret blueprints and similar instructions as necessary. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO LEAD OR SUPERVISE: *Plans weekly or monthly work schedules and sequence of operation for subordinates. *Selects individual workers and assigns the particular work or tasks to be performed. *Consults with supervisors on group policy or complex technical questions and keeps them informed on matters under their jurisdiction. *Maintains production reports and administrative records. *Inspects shop premises and field projects periodically to establish conformity with best practices for preventative maintenance, storage of material, and security of material and equipment.
