Job Summary
The Senior Manager Associate Relations and Compliance serves as a subject matter expert and key point of contact for all associate relations matters. They partner with associates and business leaders to provide resources, consultation, and mentorship when workplace issues arise. They will also serve as the key point of contact for all trainings, projects, and initiatives related to associate relations and compliance.
They will conduct workplace investigations, present investigation findings, and provide recommendations to influence business leaders and partners to make decisions that align with Marriott International’s policies and procedures. They lead, review, and audit casework to ensure compliance with local legal regulations and company policies. They will conduct trainings on Marriott International’s policies and processes and work on projects and initiatives that relate to fostering positive associate relations.
The Senior Manager Associate Relations and Compliance will demonstrate leadership and initiative by mentoring others and using sound trend analysis to suggest proactive solutions to address business needs and reduce the total number of complaints received. They will also be an integral part of ensuring compliance with the Guarantee of Fair Treatment process and upholding Marriott International’s company culture.
Business Context/Scope
The expected scope of work covers Malaysia, Indonesia, Japan, Philippines, South Korea, Vietnam, Australia, New Zealand, the Pacific Islands, Thailand, Cambodia, Myanmar and Singapore. Assistance for other countries in Asia Pacific may be required.
Key business partners include the Area and Country Directors of Human Resources, Area Leadership teams, Property HR Leaders, Legal, and the Asia Pacific Fraud Committee.
The position is to be based in either Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia or Jakarta, Indonesia and reports to the Senior Director Associate Relations and Compliance and HR Services.

Leadership

Implements and follows through with the associate relations activities that support and align with Marriott International’s business priorities in partnership with key business partners
Leads, assists and closes investigation cases and/or projects assigned promptly
Building Relationships
Establishes and maintains an open and collaborative working relationship with the internal and external stakeholders
Encourages and promotes open communication between leaders and associates to improve a healthy work environment
Facilitates proactive and productive associate relations activities at the workplace to reduce conflicts and issues
Manages an effective balance between the company and associate interests with the regulatory, privacy, and legislative requirements
Managing Work Execution
Educate and promote Marriott International’s fundamental approach to the Guarantee of Fair Treatment for all
Ensures sustainable associate relations processes and protocols are communicated and upheld completely to resolve issues and support action plans
Assist and follow up with business leaders in the proper and consistent execution of the investigations
Monitors and ensures compliance with company policies, standards, audits, and local labor regulations
Utilizes available tools and resources to evaluate and suggest proactive associate relations initiatives and practices to enhance engagement
Ensures all associates are aware of their rights and the proper channels to report any issues or concerns
Provides guidance and counsel when consulted by associates and stakeholders on associate relations matters

Researches and analyzes new and emerging associate relations practices, trends, and legislations impacting the management of labor and work
Progressively familiar with the local labor requirements and laws to facilitate investigation work
Perform other HR-related transformational tasks as assigned to meet the changing markets business goals and expectations
Job Requirements
Experience
Five to seven years of experience in an HR Generalist, Associate Relations, or related role which involves conducting investigations
Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, Business Management or equivalent
Experience in managing, leading, and developing teams is preferred
Skills
Extensive knowledge and practice of workplace investigations, union relations, and compliance management
Working knowledge of the labour regulations within the assigned area of responsibility
Fluent in written and spoken English
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Extensive experience in writing executive summary reports
Technically proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams
Ability to type and record verbal statements at a quick pace
Advanced organizational skills which include the ability to effectively prioritize and meet deadlines and efficiently handle multiple work assignments concurrently
Ability to gain support and build strong and trusting work relationships with associates and stakeholders
Ability to influence associates of all levels to abide by and comply with Marriott International’s policies and procedures
Ability to remain calm and make sound and ethical decisions while under pressure and in difficult situations
Protects and maintains confidentiality with critical information
Proactive and self-motivated with a highly independent work ability
Ability to adapt to fast-changing work environments and requirements
Able and willing to frequently travel for the job
Ability to work in different time zones when needed
Sound business acumen and hotel operations knowledge preferred
