National Youth Advocate Program is looking for Behavioral Health Specialists to serve Polk, Hardee and Highlands Counties.
Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or comparable Human Services field from an accredited institution required.
M-F, 9a-5p with non-traditional evening and weekend hours needed
Salary - $47,000

Position Overview
Under the supervision of the Program or Clinical Supervisor or designee, this position works to make a meaningful difference in the lives of the children and families served. This position works closely with children, youth, family, foster or kinship parents, and community partners, providing behavioral stabilization services, advocacy and support toward the ultimate goal of persons served success.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Behavioral Health Specialist will perform duties including, but not limited to:
• Perform all work in a manner consistent with the National Youth Advocate Programs mission, values, and philosophies.
• Maintains contact with children, youth, families and child serving partners through regular and planned sessions.
• Provides behavioral stabilization services, psychoeducation, advocacy, and other professional services, meeting or
exceeding established outcomes thresholds on behalf of persons served.
• Performs duties on-call as outlined in on-call description when called upon to respond to after hour emergency situations.
• Travels daily, to provide community based services to, and on behalf of, youth and families in compliance with
organizational, contract, and regulatory requirements.
• Completes all required documentation in a timely manner.
• Completes all required trainings in a timely manner.
• Regularly reviews and modifies child and youth based plans to ensure consistent progress and success on written plan
goals.
• Participates in the Continuous Quality Improvement activities on a monthly/quarterly basis.
• Actively participates in the weekly supervision process.
• Performs other duties as requested.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Degree in Social Work or comparable Human Services field from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of 1 year of work experience working in direct service with children, youth and families required.
• Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, automotive insurance 100,000/300,000 Bodily Injury car insurance required and a good driving record.
• A willingness to work flexible and non-traditional hours in the service of children, youth and families served.
• Capacity to be flexible and responsive to children, youth, families, child-serving partners and internal customers.
• Capacity to remain objective and professional in all areas of job function.
• Demonstrates tolerance and respect for the ideas and actions of others.
• Capacity to effectively work with and be respectful and sensitive to persons from various cultures, socioeconomic, ethnic,
religious, and racial backgrounds.
• Consistently exercises discretion and independent judgement. Readily confers with supervisor in complex or unique
situations.
• Demonstrates strategic and critical thinking resulting in effective time and task management.
• Demonstrated ability to coach child serving partners, transferring knowledge and information in easily understandable
terms.
• Capacity to interpret and apply organizational policies and procedures.
• Demonstrated capacity to remain objective yet connected, manages reactivity and self-regulates in response to challenges.
• Proficient use of desktop and laptop computers, smartphones and tablets, printers, fax machines and photocopiers as well
as software including word processing, spreadsheet and database programs.
