Fairfield County Educational Service Center Driving Instructor (In-Car Instructor) in Lancaster, Ohio

Location: Various locations in Fairfield County Description: The Fairfield County ESC in partnership with Eastland-Fairfield Career and Technical Schools, Workforce Center and each of the eight (8) public districts in Fairfield County are creating a driving school for Fairfield County students. Reach out to Will Kirby at wkirby@fairfieldesc.org or at 740-653-3193 x5225 for questions. Performance Responsibilities: 1. Teaches behind the wheel driver training to novice or beginning drivers. 2. Conduct lessons in an efficient and timely manner. 3. In-car lessons must emphasize the need for driving safely. 4. Teach in-car driving lessons with students of varying skill levels, providing instruction on driving techniques, rules of the road, defensive driving, and safe vehicle operation. 5. Evaluate student progress and provide constructive feedback to help them improve their driving skills and confidence while emphasizing driver's safety. 6. Demonstrate proper driving techniques and maneuvers, including parking, lane changes, turning, and emergency procedures. 7. Ensure a safe learning environment during driving sessions, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations. 8. Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and lesson plans. 9. Communicate effectively with the students, parents, training manager, coordinator and ESC to address any concerns or questions regarding the driving instruction program. 10. Stay updated on changes to state driving laws and regulations, as well as best practices in driver education. 11. Recommend to parents, training manager, coordinator and student any changes for future driving practices to improve student driver safety. 12. Keeps informed of all legal requirements governing driver's education, including any required accommodations that may be outlined in a student's 504/IEP documents. 13. Recommends policies and programs essential to the needs of students. 14. Adheres to procedures outlined by training manager, ESC leadership, Workforce Center coordinator. 15. Supervises and maintain a safe environment for student drivers. Do not leave student drivers unattended. 16. Must drive safely both while performing in-car education and in personal vehicle to maintain status as an instructor through the State of Ohio. Required Knowledge, Skills, Attitudes, and Other Responsibilities: 1. Knowledge of IDEA/504 Requirements. Fairfield County Educational Service Center 2. Ability to work effectively with others. 3. Ability to communicate ideas and directions clearly and effectively both orally and in writing. 4. Organizational and problem-solving skills. 5. Ability to generate correspondence independently. 6. Respects confidences shared by the staff and operates in a discreet manner in all related matters. 7. Performs other tasks and assumes responsibilities as the Superintendent directs. 8. Maintain digital records and follow all requirements set by program leadership. Qualifications: · High School Diplomas or Equivalent · Licensed driver for at least five (5) years · Must be at least 21 years of age or older. · Must complete mandatory training. · Four (4) points or fewer on driver abstract · Proof of Insurance is Required ? Past experience is preferred, but not required (Training will be provided for all new instructors at ESC expense) ? Broad knowledge of state traffic laws and any changes. · Demonstrated ability to effectively administer drivers' education programs to a diverse group of novice student drivers. · Strong leadership and communication skills · Required clean criminal background check. · Clean National Sex Offender Registry check · Meets USCIS I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification · Valid Ohio Driver's License
