TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION N025 Planner I or II in LAREDO, Texas

Performs planning and programming activities in support of management-related programs and/or transportation projects. Work requires contact with departmental managers, high-level executives, governmental/university officials and/or private entities. Employees at this level follow standard practices that do not require frequent supervision of details.Essential Duties:The essential duties for the Planner I include:Assists departmental staff on administrative, technical and regulatory aspects of planning.Assists in coordinating planning projects involving districts, divisions, various public transportation interests, research endeavors with universities and/or local, state and federal agencies.Assists in developing and implementing short-range and long-range local and statewide plans and projects.Assists in reviewing and preparing correspondence, reports, studies, giving briefings and making presentations regarding program activities.Assists with budget preparation; monitors and estimates future costs.Conducts planning studies to include feasibility studies, master plans and environmental assessments.Performs planning and programming activities in support of management-related programs and/or transportation projects.Provides general information and support to governmental officials, sponsors, users and the public.Reviews and evaluates plans and related documents to ensure compliance with applicable state or federal requirements and conformance to acceptable professional standards.Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.Additional duties for Planner II include:Analyzes departmental needs, changes and enhancements and makes recommendations.Coordinates planning projects involving districts, divisions, various public transportation interests, research endeavors with universities, other agencies and/or local, state and federal agencies.Develops and implements short and long-range local and statewide plans and projects.Oversees planning studies to include feasibility studies, master plans and environmental assessments or constraints identification.Reviews, interprets/transmits information related to administration/documentation of the urban planning programs; may administer transportation planning regarding land use and population inventories; travel demand modeling, or graphics/map preparation.Assists in reviewing and preparing correspondence, reports, studies, giving briefings and making presentations regarding program activities.Assists with budget preparation; monitors and estimates future costs.Performs planning and programming activities in support of management-related programs and/or transportation projects.Provides general information and support to governmental officials, sponsors, users and the public.Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
