WHAT YOU'LL DO

The Strategic Sourcing Buyer is responsible for ensuring that Cracker Barrel Old Country Store restaurants are continuously supplied with the specified products at the best possible cost. Principal accountabilities include the development and implementation of purchasing strategies for the assigned categories, negotiating and documenting supply agreements, managing supplier performance and relationships, and operating as a contributing member of the Strategic Sourcing department and a variety of cross-functional teams.

Manage performance of and relationships with assigned suppliers. Develop and implement strategies that identify the optimum supplier base, term of agreement, pricing methodology, and other terms and conditions which support the accomplishment of providing supply continuity of the specified product and/or services at the best possible cost. Negotiate terms and conditions, analyze proposals and provide recommendations in accordance with approved purchasing strategies. Be the Company expert and act as a resource with respect to industry, product, and supplier knowledge. Monitor respective commodities, develop commodity strategies and present appropriate recommendations. Monitor supplier capacity/distribution capabilities to ensure that all quality, cost and service expectations are met. Conduct regular performance, business, and financial reviews of current and potential suppliers. Evaluate potential Margin Initiatives, document with Business Case and Champion Change in support of Department and Company Initiatives. Work with the Product Development, Quality Assurance, Marketing, Finance, Operations, Risk Management, Construction, Facility Services, Innovation and other departments in resolving issues and capturing opportunities. Act as the supplier's representative to the Company and the Company's primary representative to the supplier. Lead and support the development of specifications, business process and continuous improvements of department. Prepare cost forecasts for assigned products.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

Experience and Education

• Bachelor’s degree with at least 3-4 years of direct and relevant work experience

• Restaurant industry, packaging/resin/paper industry, Supply Chain, or Project Management experience a plus.

• Prior contract and negotiation experience a plus.

• Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.

Knowledge and Skills

• Strong analytical, critical thinking, and reasoning skills with a problem-solving and results focused approach.

• Financial acumen and data analysis skills that include cost and inventory projections.

• Ability to develop strong negotiation and contract management skills.

• Comfortable handling and managing through ambiguity.

• Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills.

• Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.

• Must be detail oriented and excel at follow up.
