Department:Levittown Corps

Availability of Position:Immediate

Schedule:Part-time Plus, 25 hours per week

Reporting Relationship:Caseworker

Salary/Grade: $14.00 per hour; Grade 72, Non-Exempt

    Position Overview:

    Under the supervision of the Caseworker, the Food Services Specialist (FSS) organizes and carries out the Levittown Corps food service activities, including, but not limited to, food pantry pick-up, organization, and distribution, The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP), gifs-in-kind, meal prep, etc.

Responsibilities

Description of Position:

  • As scheduled, pick up all food donations for use in Salvation Army food pantry and programs.

  • Coordinate pick up of other donations and/or necessary supplies, as requested by staff.

  • Following food safety standards, unload and store/stock all food donations.

  • Maintain a clean, well-stocked choice food pantry, notifying caseworker as items become low.

  • Document all refrigerator and freezer temps, submitting to caseworker monthly and notifying Caseworker/Operations Manager of issues that may arise.

  • Keep all areas of food service clean, sanitized, and inviting, including, but not limited to, food pantry, kitchen, refrigerators, freezers, and table displays.

  • Maintain the TEFAP database for food pantry recipients, submitting monthly reports to Caseworker for statistical reporting.

  • Monitor the Food Pantry during pantry days, taking the lead as necessary, overseeing and training volunteers, and interacting with clients to determine how The Salvation Army can meet their greater need.

  • Track and submit documentation for gifts-in-kind.

  • Work closely with Caseworker for meal prep at the Monthly Community Meal, as well as other potential meals, and serve as needed.

  • Work with Caseworker to enhance the food pantry, such as classes for meal planning, cooking on a budget, healthy eating, etc.

  • Assist with the maintenance of two 12-passenger vans (used for food pick-ups), including gassing up, notifications for oil changes, etc.

  • General housekeeping, as time permits.

  • Perform related duties, as assigned.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Education or 3-5 years’ experience in human services, food services or related field.

  • Must be at least 21 years old.

  • Must be able to maintain client confidentiality in and out of work duties.

  • Represent The Salvation Army while on duty with a kind and helpful disposition.

  • Excellent communication skills, especially verbal.

  • Basic computer literacy.

  • Cooking skills.

  • Ability to work with a diverse population of people.

  • Ability to lift boxes, loaded with food, safely.

  • Must be able to work independently.

  • Must have a valid PA Driver License, with clean driving record, and pass TSA Driving Course within one week of hire.

  • ServeSafe certification a plus; ability to pass ServeSafe within 30 days of hire.

  • As a Mandated Reporter, must provide proof of having completed training on recognizing and reporting child abuse meeting the training standards of PA Act 153 of 2014 within 30 days of employment with recurrent training required every five years thereafter. Child Protection Clearances PA Act 153 requires that all prospective employees complete the following clearance and background checks: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check.
