Cabinet Peaks Medical Center Employee Health RN/Infection Control, Part Time in Libby, Montana

Cabinet Peaks Medical Center is looking for a Employee Health/Infection Prevention RN to join our Nursing Administration Team!

The Infection Preventionist manages the Infection Control Program of the hospital. The Infection Preventionist helps with identification of infectious disease processes, surveillance and epidemiologic investigation, and preventing and controlling the transmission of infectious agents. The functions of the Employee Health Coordinator (EHC) are to coordinate all functions of employee health with senior hospital and leadership. The EHC is responsible for completion of testing (per standing order protocols), reporting of test results internally and to required external entities and record keeping of staff vaccination status and test requirements for both pre-employment and active employees. Will also be responsible for coordinating communication related to testing results and employees’ absences as related to employee health related concerns. The EHC works closely with all Department Managers to coordinate the various programs and services for all employees. Additionally, the EHC will also spend a minimum of 50% of their time working in direct patient care as a medical assistant.

Major Job Duties & Responsibilities

Utilize documentation requirements set forth by CPMC.

Implement and monitor efficient tactics to fulfill the core responsibilities of the position. Ensures compliance with applicable standards of care, regulatory requirements, conditions of participation, etc. for department functions; develops department policies and procedures.

Monitors performance to goals, plans and requirements through regular reporting mechanisms; assesses performance and adjusts plans as needed to achieve goals.

Provide appropriate communication of the procedural standards to all employees, conduct orientation and training programs.

Screen new employees for infection preventable vaccinations as per CDC, OSHA or State requirements.

Track information regarding employee injuries and health issues and coordinating safe return to work.

Coordinate employee wellness activities such as flu shots, lab tests, etc.

Work closely with public health to alert staff to public health issues and coordinate efforts in a public health emergency in conjunction with the Infectious Disease nurse as necessary.

Track information regarding infectious disease issues, including healthcare associated infections, etc.

Assists CPC manager with assignment of clinical support staff functions.

Serves as back-up to CPC manager for adjusting, and approving CPC employee timecards.

Track information regarding infectious disease issues, including healthcare associated infections, etc.

Coordinates and chairs the Infectious Diseases Committee and reports findings/discussion at other various hospital committees.

Perform regular surveillance / audits of ICP procedures.

Coordinates all regulatory education for CPMC-employed staff via Learning Management System(s).

Facilitates educational opportunities in collaboration with Department Managers to meet specific goals/targets.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

Ability to demonstrate competency performing all essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Computer skills required.

Knowledge of electronic health record is required.

Experience

A minimum of 3 -5 years of experience as an RN is required.

Prior experience with infection prevention is preferred, clinical education, employee health is strongly preferred.

Educational Requirements

Registered Nurse licensed by the Montana Board of Nursing required.

BSN degree or equivalent combination of education and experience is required

Certification in Infection Control (CIC) preferred.

BLS required.

ACLS, PALS, and NRP preferred.
