Children’s Development Center Morning Assistant Teacher in Lima, Ohio
The Children's Development Center is now hiring a full-time Assistant Teacher.
The Assistant Teacher is responsible for coordinating plans with the Lead Teacher in preparing children with special needs to learn, play, and become as independent as possible.
Wage: $11.00-$13.00/hour
Schedule:
- Mornings Only
- No Weekends
- No Holidays
Summers Off
Job Duties:
- Helps develop and implement program activities for the benefit of persons with developmental disabilities in conjunction with the Lead Teacher
- Incorporates into classroom activities strategies for the child's activities of daily living, self-help, eye/hand coordination, memory, visual perception, vocabulary, socialization, and working towards making each individual as independent as possible
- Works with the Lead Teacher to add input to written reports for schools and parent conferences
- Attends monthly staff meetings
- Serves as a substitute in the classroom when the Lead Teacher is ill or absent
Shares in duties: cleaning classroom, changing soiled diapers, and preparing room for class for the following day
Job Context:
The Assistant Teacher spends time in the classroom and is an active member of the teaching team. The Assistant will share in aspects of the classroom as directed by the Lead Teacher and will perform individual or small group activities with students. The Assistant Teacher must be willing and able to interact appropriately with a diverse group of people.
Qualifications:
- Three or more years of experience in childcare is highly desirable
- HS Diploma is mandatory
- CDA or Associate Degree in Early Childhood is highly desirable
