SCRAM Systems Test Technician II in Littleton, Colorado

Job Summary:

The primary purpose of this role is to maintain, troubleshoot and repair Test Systems that Manufacturing uses for product acceptance. A large component of maintaining the Test Systems is to maintain equipment calibration and gage tracking. This requires management of equipment calibrations that are performed both internally and through 3rd parties. If Manufacturing is not in need of immediate support and equipment calibration is up to date, then there are growth opportunities in this role. Those opportunities include Test Fixture Configuration Management, write/complete/implement Test System ECOs, fabricate Test Systems, design custom Test System hardware, write/update LabVIEW software for Test Systems.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair Test Systems and other duties to support Manufacturing from a Test Engineering perspective. Provide technical support and repair of Manufacturing Test Systems.

  • Provide all aspects of equipment calibration including entering calibration records in gage tracking system. Perform calibration of various pieces of instrumentation.

  • Layout, build, test, troubleshoot, repair and modify developmental and production electronic components, parts, equipment, and systems.

  • Draw sketches to clarify design details and functional criteria of electronic units.

  • Assemble experimental circuitry (breadboard) or complete prototype model according to engineering instructions, technical manuals, and knowledge of electronic systems and components.

  • Set up standard test apparatus or devises test equipment and circuitry to conduct functional, operational, environmental, and life tests to evaluate performance and reliability of prototype or production model.

  • Complete documentation of test equipment, schematics, wiring diagrams and assembly instructions.

  • As an individual contributor, meet project objectives with innovation, creativity and good engineering practice. Design new, innovative product tests and enhancements/improvements to current tests. Seek new and better technologies and methods to increase test performance. When appropriate, initiate putting in additional hours to stay off assigned project’s critical path.

  • Continuously improve skills required; seeking training through seminars, literature, industry shows/workshops and relevant course work.

  • Automated testing is associated with engineering investigations including reliability testing and product failure investigations.

Skills/Abilities:

  • Hands on electronics troubleshooting to the component level strongly preferred.

  • Able to read and use electronic schematics to aid in troubleshooting electronic hardware.

  • Work experience in ISO 9001 certified companies; especially for equipment calibration.

  • Highly proficient in use of hand tools.

  • High level of natural curiosity of relevant technologies.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of electronics, electrical components and fabrication techniques.

  • Experience using formal Product Development Processes.

  • Highly proficient in various computer applications including word processing, and spreadsheets.

  • Well organized, attentive to detail, and able to work well independently.

  • Proficiency in using various types of tests and measuring equipment including: oscilloscopes, meters, logic analyzer, function generator, etc.

  • A demonstrated interest in continuing education in relevant technology areas.

  • Medical product development a plus.

  • Excellent oral and written communications abilities.

  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.

Education and Experience:

  • High school graduate or equivalent.

  • A.S. Electronics or Equivalent Experience.

  • 4+ years of progressive related experience.
