Actalent Applications Engineer in Liverpool, New York

Job Title: Applications Engineer, Power GenerationJob Description

The Applications Engineer plays a crucial role in managing and supporting Industrial Gas Turbine custom sales orders. This role involves a combination of project management, technical engineering, and client support to ensure the successful delivery and operation of power generation systems.

Responsibilities

  • Act as Project Engineer for all Industrial Gas Turbine custom sales orders, dedicating approximately 35% of time to this role.

  • Develop and maintain project folders with comprehensive project information including customer contacts, specifications, application checklists, valve and actuator sizing calculations, engineering workload estimates, and project schedules.

  • Serve as the lead engineer for custom sales orders, ensuring proper execution of sizing calculations, specification preparation for purchased components, and adherence to safety standards.

  • Ensure proper packaging of components in the final assembly.

  • Function as the primary technical resource to support Industrial Gas Turbine Sales, dedicating approximately 20% of time to this role.

  • Review sales quote databases and proposals for technical accuracy on a daily and weekly basis.

  • Perform engineering calculations to support customer applications and provide technical input for standard product lines.

  • Travel to customer sites as needed to support products and applications.

  • Perform sustaining engineering functions for standard products as assigned, dedicating approximately 10% of time to this role.

  • Support production-related issues and act as the engineer of record on Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) as assigned.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering

  • Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, especially in conveying technical information to clients.

  • Experience in engineering design, development, or testing.

  • Strong analytical skills.

  • Ability to travel as required, typically 1 week per month.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Mechanical engineering background with a focus on sales and gas turbines.

  • Eligibility to obtain required export authorization for non-US persons.

Work Environment

The position requires 25% travel, with the office located in a professional setting. The role offers a 10% performance-based bonus. The work environment includes a combination of office work and on-site customer support, ensuring dynamic and varied daily tasks.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $150000.00/yr.
