Ford Motor Company Product Development Engineer - Under Body Systems in Livonia, Michigan

Join the dynamic UNSE (Under Body Systems Engineering) Externally Purchased Department. We are the Systems Engineering and Industrialization team for Externally Purchased Power Units, eBeam Axles, and Generators at Ford. We're at the forefront of developing Ford’s future model BEV and PHEV vehicles in collaboration with selected suppliers. Our team strives for product excellence and efficiency from development, launch and into production. We are searching for a new Industrialization team member who is qualified and will be a contributor to Ford’s success in this critical new area.

As Industrialization Lead in the BEV Externally Purchased Power Unit group, your responsibilities will include:

  • Support Design Competitions to optimize costs and ensure program profitability

  • Manage milestone cadence within GPDS parameters

  • Lead milestone assessments, communication documents and reporting up to Director levels

  • Collect and enter Integrator assessments

  • Lead TPMT (Transmission Product Management Team) for your commodity

  • Oversee commodity timing to align with program schedules

  • Develop actionable work plans to address commodity issues, escalating as needed up thru director level

  • Acting as the primary point of contact for Power Unit matters in Program PMT meetings

  • Manage the commodity financials

  • Coordinate with Purchasing, Systems Engineering, Finance

  • Manage BOM/FEDE-BOM and support WERS release activities

Required:

Demonstrated understanding of the Ford PD GPDS process or comparable development process

  • 2+ years of Automotive experience, working cross functionally to develop new technology

  • Ability to motivate both internal teams and external partners to deliver products on time, within budget, and meeting all program requirements

  • Proven problem-solving skills to address commodity issues and effectively communicate solutions and status to upper management

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering (preferred) or Business Administration (considered)

  • Knowledge of Power Unit function and controls

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (PowerPoint, Excel, OneNote, etc.).

  • Familiarity with Ford-specific applications like WERS, Integrator, and FEDE.

This position is a range of salary grades SG5 - SG8 .
