Overview The College of Agriculture and Applied Sciences is hiring a full-time Recruiter (Recruiter I). The Recruiter will foster and support the effort to recruit prospective students to the College of Agriculture and Applied Sciences (CAAS). This will entail providing admissions information to prospective students, providing information about degrees and programs, and representing CAAS at onsite locations i.e., high schools, community colleges, regional campuses, Logan campus classes, college fairs, conventions, expos, open houses, and universities. Because recruitment is a team effort, the Recruiter will work closely with university admissions, CAAS administrators, advisors, department heads, the CAAS marketing team, the CAAS recruitment committee, retention personnel, and others as appropriate.

The Recruiter will provide team leadership in the recruitment of targeted student populations with emphasis on diversity, exploring/identifying potential growth markets, and building relationships with high school counselors and colleagues at other institutions for undergraduate transfer and graduate student recruitment. Familiarity with digital resources will identify prospective student data, compile enrollment data, and contribute to data-driven decision-making. Proficiency in presentation, strong communication and teamwork skills, data analysis, and program evaluation are required to succeed in this role. There are some skills, like developing familiarity with software and Admissions processes, that can be learned on the job in a short amount of time.

Responsibilities As a member of the CAAS recruitment and retention team, the successful applicant will coordinate activities to identify and contact prospective students and other specified populations, provide them with information about CAAS and Utah State University and facilitate their enrollment. Typical functions include:

  • Design and coordinate the recruiting strategies for CAAS to increase student enrollment.
  • Represent CAAS and USU at onsite locations, including high schools, community colleges, regional campuses, Logan campus classes, college fairs, conventions, conferences, open houses, and universities.
  • Present information about the benefits of an education from CAAS.
  • Plan and implement recruiting events, including facilitation of pre-event and post-event communications.
  • Serve as a liaison between CAAS and USU Admissions, coordinating college-level recruiting efforts that are aligned with and support university recruitment efforts.
  • Collaborate with and support CAAS departments and other recruitment and retention efforts.
  • Work closely with the CAAS Marketing team to create and manage communication materials and campaigns.
