How will you make an impact in this role?
This position is to support the evolving GenAI/AI and Machine Learning space in American Express, assisting the VP and Director Line of Business Compliance Officer (LOBCO) in conducting comprehensive compliance reviews on AXP GenAI/AI/ML proposals and thus ensuring effective compliance risk management across American Express
To assist with weekly reviews of AXP GenAI/AI use cases being submitted to the GenAI council; this involves assessing the governance, compliance risks and controls that support the conceptualization, development, deployment and monitoring of Gen AI/AI use cases.
Support LOBCO VP and Director in GenAI/AI/ML Model reviews; assessing the governance, compliance risks and controls that support the conceptualization, development, deployment and monitoring of Gen AI/AI/ML use cases.
Effectively challenge the First Line GenAI/AI/ML use case developers to ensure that the appropriate GenAI/AI/ML risks are identified, mitigated, and governed.
Attend GenAI council meetings in conjunction with LOBCO VP.
Document rationale of the risk rating for each use case; produce monthly reports for GCE leadership.
Assist the LOBCO VP and Director in drafting and aligning inputs to the AXP GenAI policy, taxonomies, and risk assessments.
Provide GenAI/AI/ML compliance-related subject matter expertise and collaborate with other second line teams to effectively assess Gen AI/AI/ML controls including but not limited to; information security, information technology, data security/privacy, third-party compliance..
Ensure ongoing professional development by maintaining a proficient knowledge of Global laws and regulations, their impact on American Express commercial products, operations and services, as well as the latest developments in AI/Gen AI technologies, ethical considerations, and regulatory requirements
Work closely with the General Counsel’s Office while maintaining strong working partnerships with other Compliance Officers, and other key partners across the Blue Box
Support regulatory examinations and internal/external audits.
Minimum Qualifications:
Degree level educated.
Knowledge and understanding of global regulatory guidelines pertaining to GenAI/AI/ML.
Ability to break down a complex problem into components, solve them using data analysis, process knowledge and regulatory knowledge, communicate results/control recommendations with transparency and integrity.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Capable of effectively working independently, within a team and across teams in a fast-paced environment.
Strong analytical and organizational skills; proven ability to support multiple priorities simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant work experience in risk management of AI/ML systems and models is desired.
