Position Overview:

Represents Sutter Health’s Greater Silicon Valley Market (“GSV”) in capital improvement projects, including new development, facility expansion, renovation, retrofitting and activation of healthcare sites designed exclusively for the delivery of patient care, such as ambulatory care centers (i.e., primary and specialty-care clinics; UCCs; ASCs; imaging, lab and pharmacy services), medical offices and hospitals. Primary responsibility is to execute and project-manage the multi-year facility growth and expansion plan and strategy in excess of $1.4 billion in partnership with GSV market senior executives and Sutter Health facility & property services (SH FPS). This role serves as VOC (voice of the customer) for GSV market on all matters related to its facility growth and expansion plan. Accountable for ensuring all work for scope, budget and schedule, including the coordination, monitoring and reporting on design and construction activities. Collaborates with GSV market leaders and SH FPS team and is accountable to ensure the administration of consultant and construction agreements and the maintenance of design and construction schedules and construction management. May be responsible for the direct supervision and management of GSV site activation team. Ensures work product is in accordance with project cycle management (PCM) principles. Acts as a liaison between all internal and external stakeholders.

EDUCATION:

Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.

Bachelor's: Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field

TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:

12 years recent relevant experience.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Must be familiar with health care construction building codes and regulations, space programming and allocation cost analysis, discretionary approval processes, construction means and methods, construction processes and procedures, and contract implementation.

  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills in the delivery of health care facilities including medical office buildings, acute care general hospitals, outpatient surgery centers and psychiatric hospitals from programming through facility activation.

  • Knowledge includes the understanding of the facility design on staff performance and efficiencies that support the business goals of the institution, as well as current trends in healthcare facility development and facility designs impacting patient care and operating efficiency.

  • Must be familiar with the State of California building approval processes including OSHPD, the State Fire Marshall and municipal discretionary approvals, as well as TJC regulation.

  • Verbal and written communication skills, solid interpersonal and conflict resolution abilities and work group facilitation skills. must demonstrate human resource management skills including the ability to attract, retain, motivate, develop and manage performance of staff.

  • Demonstrated negotiation skills balancing attention to details with an ability to operate strategically.

  • Demonstration of leadership ability, including the management and delegation of appropriate tasks to technical and non-technical support staff.

  • Consultative skills to gather needs and translate requests into potential solutions.

  • Client relationship management skills to maintain positive relations between fps and affiliate leadership.

  • Familiarity with computer software programs such as Microsoft Word, Project and Excel.

Pay Range is $100.72 to $161.15 / hour

The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs.
