The USC Keck School of Medicine is seeking to hire a full-time Clinical Laboratory Manager to oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of the Translational Pathology Core (TPC) Laboratory within the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine.

The Clinical Laboratory Manager oversees and provides operational leadership and technical expertise to ensure proper functioning of the Adult Tissue Arm Laboratory division for optimal quality, efficiency, productivity, and turn-around-times.

Essential Duties:

  • Responsible for the development and monitoring of departmental budget including performance against budget.

  • Oversees the procurement and processing of tissue and fluid samples from human subjects as part of clinical trials, translational. and basic science research: direct contact with clinic, radiology, ORs for scheduled procedures and status checks.

  • Ensures quality histology services for both human biospecimens and animal tissues, including embedding, sectioning, and histologic staining and design and construction of tissue microarrays to support translational and basic research studies.

  • Accountable for managing the administrative aspects of the Tissue Core Lab and Biorepository, including organizing and managing biospecimen requests/projects, new protocols, and management of current protocols.

  • Responsible for the timely retrieval and organization of biospecimens (frozen/fresh tissue, fluids, blood products, FFPE blocks e,tc.) for researchers/clinician requests.

  • Maintains accurate records of completed work; keeps up-to-date records of the cost of all work for recharge accounting.

  • Reviews and revises established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program and safety standards as required.

  • Interprets sponsor/investigator guidelines and serves as an expert resource to ensure ongoing compliance with all applicable regulatory and financial requirements imposed on institutions of higher education.

  • Develops and maintains excellent working relationships with stakeholders across campus including but not limited to faculty, researchers, unit personnel and members of the USC Research Community.

Salary Range:

The annual base salary range for this position is $108,938 - $145,732. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
