UCLA Health Lab Assistant I (20% Limited) in Los Angeles, California

Description

The Department of Medicine is seeking a motivated Lab Assistant to join our innovative research team investigating the genetics of cardiometabolic disease. Under the general supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI), you will play a vital role in both hands-on lab work, including cell culture, electrophoresis, RNA isolation, and qPCR, as well as animal work. Prior experience in animal handling and body composition assessment by NMR is preferred.

This is a 20% limited role which may convert to career

Hourly range: $19.32-$22.37

Qualifications

Required:

  • Ability to take specific laboratory directions and good communication skills

  • Knowledge of basic laboratory safety, protocol

  • Experience Assisting with routine laboratory experimentation

  • Skill in working with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in Molecular Biology/Biochemistry or medical background

  • Knowledge in molecular biology and genetics and animal handling certified
