UCLA Health Lab Assistant I (20% Limited) in Los Angeles, California
Description
The Department of Medicine is seeking a motivated Lab Assistant to join our innovative research team investigating the genetics of cardiometabolic disease. Under the general supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI), you will play a vital role in both hands-on lab work, including cell culture, electrophoresis, RNA isolation, and qPCR, as well as animal work. Prior experience in animal handling and body composition assessment by NMR is preferred.
This is a 20% limited role which may convert to career
Hourly range: $19.32-$22.37
Qualifications
Required:
Ability to take specific laboratory directions and good communication skills
Knowledge of basic laboratory safety, protocol
Experience Assisting with routine laboratory experimentation
Skill in working with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
Preferred:
Bachelor's degree in Molecular Biology/Biochemistry or medical background
Knowledge in molecular biology and genetics and animal handling certified
