UCLA Health Lab Assistant I in Los Angeles, California

Description

The Department of Medicine is seeking to hire a motivated and detail-oriented Lab Assistant I. As a Lab Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the seamless functioning of the laboratory. Working under the guidance of the Research Operations Manager, you will be responsible for executing crucial tasks that contribute to the efficient operation of the lab. Your primary responsibilities will include submitting equipment and supplies orders, assisting with lab management tasks, and providing support in planning meetings.

Hourly range: $19.32-$22.37

Qualifications

Required:

  • Demonstrated ability to set and meet internal deadlines, work independently, use judgment and make decisions.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Strong computer skills sufficient to prepare financial reports.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and follow through on assignments with minimal direction

  • Computer knowledge and skill to use word processing and database programs, including MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Access.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

Preferred:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience

  • Previous experience in a laboratory setting or similar role.

  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proactive approach to problem-solving and ability to take initiative when required.
