UCLA Health Staff Research Associate I - Genetic Autism Study in Los Angeles, California

Description

The Semel Institute is seeking to hire a full time Staff Research Associate I to assist with the completion of the research aims of this study which include actively recruiting and retaining 200 families of autistic individuals into genetics research annually. In this role you will be responsible for recruitment, enrollment, and sample collection and report to our funders regarding sample quality. You will also engage in careful tracking and follow-up of study participation and organize community events to provide better access to historically underrepresented families.

Other Laboratory and Research Support duties include:

  • Enter and manage research data

  • Approach patients about being a part of a study

  • Conduct screening interviews for study in person and/or remotely (phone or zoom)

  • Consenting of subjects.

  • Help participants complete questionnaires

  • Conduct structured diagnostic interviews

  • Help with submission of IRBs and manuscripts

  • Enter, clean, and analyze data

  • Help with manuscript development and support with online submissions of manuscripts

Pay Range: $25.75 - $30.71Qualifications

Required:

  • Ability to coordinate data collection and data entry for research studies.

  • Ability to interact appropriately and congenially with all staff, faculty, students, patients and the public at all times.

  • Ability to schedule patient and administrative appointments accurately.

  • Skill at prioritizing assignments and ability to work concurrently on several projects.

  • Ability to function effectively with several interruptions.

  • Ability to work independently and follow through on tasks with minimal direction

  • High level ability in the use of a PC using all Windows applications.

  • Ability to enter data and manage research data base.

  • Ability in the use of SPSS.

  • Skill in maintaining organized filing systems.

  • Skill in editing reports, correspondence, manuals, etc., for grammar and punctuation.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in the strictest sense.

  • Skill in maintaining accurate timekeeping.

  • Familiarity with child and adolescent psychiatric disorders.

Preferred:

  • B.A. or B.S. in Psychology or related field preferred
