Grant Thornton is seeking a Tax Digital Consulting - Enterprise Tax Engine Implementation - Indirect Tax Senior Manager to join our team in Houston, TX. As the Enterprise Tax Automation Senior Manager you work on leading, managing and delivering a full range of technology consulting services to assigned clients and working closely with assigned tax staff on all phases of the assigned project and engagement management for multiple clients of the firm. You work on large tax system implementation and integration engagements and play an active role in the project requirements gathering, design, development, testing and the go-live support of these projects. This includes managing a team of staff and coordinating day-to-day activities to ensure that projects are on time and within budget based on the original scope. You also provide technology support for other areas of the tax practice including report development, supporting data extraction projects and application development. You are accountable for practice revenue targets, as well as building and managing a team of tax technology and process improvement professionals.
You are responsible for leading and managing sales and marketing efforts including speaking engagements, drafting proposals, and attending sales meetings.
Your day to Day May Include:
Developing and delivering key project documentation including requirements documents, design documents, and test plans.
Serving as the Project Manager on assigned third-party tax software implementations (Vertex, Thomson Reuters OneSource, Avalara, Sovos).
Demonstrating working knowledge of data management and data analytics concepts.
Working closely with clients to gather feedback on their issues and translate into Grant Thornton service offerings that support their overall tax objectives; team with tax subject matter specialists to bring complete professional expertise to our clients
Helping to develop and leading staff to enable them to perform core project activities; has experience supervising several staff resources during long term projects.
Participating in sales and proposal development meetings; network and develop key relationships both within Grant Thornton and externally.
Managing a broad range of complex tax technology projects from commencement to completion and a proven track record of delivering projects to a wide range of clients.
Other duties as assigned.
Managing assigned system integration projects that involve major ERP and billing systems, such as SAP, Oracle, PeopleSoft, JD Edwards, Microsoft Dynamics, NetSuite, Coupa, Ariba, etc.
Performing and document requirements analysis and design for indirect tax software implementations.
Managing, testing and support of assigned system go-live projects.
Developing and delivering key project documentation including requirements documents, design documents, and test plans.
Helping to develop and lead staff to enable them to perform core project activities
Participating in Sales meetings and Proposal Development meetings.
Networking and developing key relationships both within Grant Thornton and externally
Other duties as assigned.
You have the following technical skills or qualifications:
Bachelor of Arts/Science degree in Accounting, Finance, or other business-related field
10+ years of public accounting, consulting, or industry experience
10+ years of direct implementation experience with third party indirect Tax Engines such as Vertex, Thomson Reuters OneSource, Avalara AvaTax
You have ERP experience including SAP, Oracle, PeopleSoft, NetSuite, and/or JD Edwards
You have experience implementing these Tax Engines with a variety of ERP solutions in Order-to-Cash and Procure-to-Pay streams
You have global implementation experience is a bonus, US and Canada implementation experience is a must
You have experience leading, supervising and developing others for these types of implementations
You have experience querying and pulling datasets from Tax Engines
You have direct experience performing configurations in Tax Engines
You have experience writing project documentation for a Tax Engine implementation including Requirements, Design, and Test Plans
You have the ability to work additional hours and travel as needed.
Certified Public Accountant or other professional designation is preferred
Experience with data analytics, transformation, and visualization tools such as Alteryx, Microsoft Power BI, Tableau
BA/BS degree in technically related field with secondary degree or minor in: Management Information Systems (MIS), computer science, or data analytics, is preferred
The base salary range for this position in the firm's Los Angeles, CA and Bellevue, WA offices is between $174,200 and $290,300.
The base salary range for this position in the firm's San Francisco, CA and San Jose, CA offices is between $185,500 and $309,100.
The base salary range for this position in New York only is between $174,200 and $290,300.
The base salary range for this position in the firms Chicago, IL and Denver, CO offices is between $161,300 and $268,800.
