Post-Graduate Athletic Intern, Strength & Conditioning
Position Description:
The Texas Tech University Postgraduate Intercollegiate Athletics Internship is intended to provide on-the-job learning experiences for college graduates interested in pursuing a career in various areas of intercollegiate athletics. This program can last 12-36 months.
Future leaders will gain experience in using principles such as:
Applying a standard of ethics to policy and administrative context
Evaluating the effectiveness and efficiency of current operations within area of assignment
Communicating relevant information and ideas
Managing university resources to achieve organizational goals

Major/Essential Functions:
Track & Field:
Assist in developing sports-specific programs that intensify the student-athlete's physical strength, speed, and cardiovascular conditioning.
Assist with daily warm-ups and cool-down routines for practices, competitions, and strength and conditioning workouts.
Instruct, educate and supervise all student-athletes regarding proper weight training techniques.
Assists with the general operation and maintenance of the Athletics' weight room, along with enforcing safety procedures.
Consult with athletic training staff to determine the participation status of injured student-athletes and work with the athletic training staff to enhance the rehabilitation programs for student-athletes.
Maintains communication with departmental staff, coaches, and medical staff.
Assist in monitoring the progress of each student-athlete through verifiable records and maintain written documentation regarding status.
Assists with developing and implementing policies affecting the strength and conditioning program.
Football:
Assist with equipment setup/breakdown.
Spotting for safety purposes (no instruction or conducting workouts).

Preferred Qualifications:
Previous strength and conditioning experience at the collegiate or professional level.
Familiarity with NCAA, Conference, and University rules and regulations.
Possess one of the following National Strength and Conditioning Certifications:
Certified Strength and Conditioning Certificate (CSCS) or
Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC)
Current CPR/AED and First Aid Certifications, or ability to obtain upon hire.
Ability to demonstrate and teach appropriate lifting and movement techniques.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
Ability to work a flexible schedule that could include mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays in order to complete assigned tasks.
