Amazon Senior Program Manager, EUAIR Safety in Luxembourg, Luxembourg
Description
Amazon Air EU continues to grow, while prioritizing the safety of our Air Gateways associates. To achieve this, we are seeking a motivated Senior Program Manager with expertise in development and implementation of safety management systems, ISO 45001, and work-process simplification which enables adoption and ownership of safety systems. The successful candidate will possess strong project/program management skills including technical accuracy, analytical thinking, communication skills, and a hands-on approach to delivering Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) standards/procedures/best practices across the EUAIR Network.
This role involves initiating and supporting the implementation of WHS programs within EU AIR, ensuring alignment with Operations Partner’s program ownership. You will identify improvement opportunities and influence cross-functional stakeholders. You will thrive in a flexible environment and not hindered by ambiguity. Strong judgment, negotiation skills, analytic talent, and leadership are essential. You will collaborate closely with stakeholders to understand high-priority execution targets and drive measurable impacts across Global Program framework. You will work across business units and geographies to support the development of long-term strategies and operational direction for WHS programs. You will be a motivated manager with a proven record of developing team members’ competencies. You will act as a proxy for the Regional Air Safety Manager/ WHS leader EU when needed.
Key job responsibilities
· Assist with the delivery of safety performance and monitoring aligned with team goals
· Facilitate safety at EU AIR Gateways and support WHS teams across the network, including Cargo operations
· Implement WHS programs and monitor the EU Gateway WHS Safety Oversight Programs
. Conduct site visits/ assessments and participate in audits across the EU network to determine areas of improvement and monitor follow-up actions
· Ensure compliance with Amazon AIR WHS standards and local (national)/ EU legislation
. Generate in-depth analyses and actionable recommendations for business reviews
. Proactively identify and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency
· Lead safety investigations and incident prevention programs
. Maintain accurate AIR Safety documentation and WHS data systems
. Collaborate with internal teams
. Assist with team member coordination and training
. Support new Gateway launches and assessments
Program Management:
. Implement ISO 45001 Management System Standards
. Develop and maintain WHS policies aligned with local regulations and Amazon standards
. Improve change management processes
. Present program updates in business reviews (Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly)
. Coordinate safety projects from inception to delivering, including global projects
. Analyze data to identify trends and support decision-making
. Partner with internal and external teams to develop programs and ensure effective implementation
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent (EQF)
• Aviation experience (air cargo operations preferred)
• Extensive experience in Safety Management or program management
• ISO Standards and Safety Management System implementation experience
• Strong decision-making and leadership skills, along with proven records of delivering results
• Excellent communication skills, simplifying complex ideas
• Ability to influence and build relationship in a cross-functional environment
• Adaptable to changing environments
• Willing to travel 40-50%
Preferred Qualifications
• Master's Degree in Management or Industrial Engineering
• Safety Management System and safety investigation experience
• Experience in ramp/warehouse operations safety
• Knowledge of AIR operations regulations
• Practical experience with Lean, 5S, and Kaizen methodologies
• Incident investigation experience
• Strong analytical and IT skills
