Robert Half Logistics Coordinator in Lyndhurst, New Jersey

Description

We are searching for a diligent and experienced Logistics Coordinator to join our team near Lyndhurst, New Jersey. This role involves managing and overseeing inbound freight shipments, ensuring the smooth and efficient functioning of our logistics operations. The position is a contract-to-hire opportunity in the logistics industry.

Responsibilities:

• Manage the receiving of inbound freight shipments from various points of origin

• Handle freight documentation and waybilling, including assessing charges and collecting fees for shipments

• Open and maintain files on the dedicated software system for each shipment received

• Respond to inquiries via fax, email, or telephone promptly and professionally

• Negotiate with domestic customers on behalf of foreign customers to resolve problems and arrive at mutual agreements

• Examine invoices and shipping manifests for conformity to tariff and customs regulations

• Contact customs officials to facilitate the release of incoming freight and resolve customs delays

• Itemize charges, prepare freight bills, accept payments, and issue refunds as necessary

• Notify consignees of any delays in the departure of shipment

• Convert foreign currency figures into United States monetary equivalents or domestic currency into foreign equivalents

• Calculate duties or tariffs to be paid on merchandise and correspond with foreign companies as needed

• Utilize skills in Bills of Lading, Export Shipments, Cargowise, and International Shipping for efficient operations.

Requirements • Demonstrated proficiency in handling Bills of Lading

• Experience in managing Export Shipments

• Proficient in using Cargowise software

• Knowledge of International Shipping processes and regulations

• Strong organizational and multitasking skills

• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities

• Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

• Problem-solving aptitude and ability to think on one's feet

• Attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks

• Ability to collaborate effectively with various teams and departments

• Familiarity with logistics and supply chain management best practices

• Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is preferred.
