Job Title : Special Projects Director 

Reports to : Coordinated Campaign Manager

Salary : $7,000/month, $84,000/annually with a generous benefits package

Location : Madison or Milwaukee, WI ( Please note: Employment with the Democratic Party of Wisconsin requires residence or willingness to relocate to the state of Wisconsin. )

Start date : Summer 2024

The Opportunity: As Special Projects Director, you will support the WI Campaign Manager and the senior staff team by managing important deadlines, deliverables, and requests for time. In this role, you will be expected to maintain confidentiality regarding your access to important strategic projects and will be responsible for facilitating communication and collaboration among a variety of staff. This high level involvement will require organizational skills, the ability to multitask, and boundary-setting proficiency. The Special Projects Director will own the responsibilities of logistical coordination on the Campaign Manager’s behalf along with other discrete projects as directed by the Campaign Manager.

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Manage fast-moving deadlines and complex projects with multiple stakeholders and contributors.

  • Own individual projects that may not otherwise fall into the expertise of any single department or require inputs from multiple departments. 

  • Track and ensure proper follow-up from meetings and interactions with staff or other stakeholders.

  • Make scheduling decisions in correspondence with appropriate staff.

  • Ensure that necessary staff have reviewed and approved documents. 

  • Maintain a holistic schedule for the Campaign Manager and the senior team to optimize efficiency and collaboration.

  • Lead check-ins and other calls as assigned by the Campaign Manager. 

  • Navigate complex political relationships and prioritize responses or project delivery accordingly.

  • Coordinate travel or other logistics.

  • Attend regular business and strategy meetings to take notes and catalog follow-up.

  • On year requirements include working outside of normal work hours; including canvassing and other election-preparation as necessary.

  • Organizational Skills - Demonstrated ability to handle incoming information from several  mediums while remaining incredibly organized and establishing time to look ahead and potential scheduling issues.

  • Prioritization Skills - Must have experience balancing competing priorities and deadlines in addition to recognizing one’s own capacity and when to say no.

  • Scheduling Experience - Able to handle multiple calendars with the intention of looking ahead to avoid overlaps.

  • Confidentiality Management - Must have ability to navigate multiple sources of confidential information with discretion. 

  • Experience of working in a political party or on an election campaign.
