We are looking for an experienced Telecommunication Fiber Splicer to join our team in our Manteca, CA location and help us connect America.

You will perform the duties as a Fiber Splicer as a part of the construction of telecommunications outside plant to ensure scope of work performed is within standards required by customer.

Must have at least 2 years’ experience as a Fiber Slicer and have knowledge of fiber optic color codes, and able to interpret prints in underground and aerial environment.

Role Overview:

A successful Fiber Splicer will properly terminate, splices, and preps fiber optic cable within a telecommunications system. Will know telecommunication network structure; familiar with fiber optic cable, splice enclosures and functionality of each; perform OTDR and test fusion splicing equipment. Can read and interpret existing fiber matrices; troubleshoot and perform maintenance to resolve signal problems.

What you’ll do…

  • Splice overhead, underground or submarine multiple conductor cables.

  • Climb utility poles or towers, utilizes truck mounted lift-bucket or descends into underground vaults.

  • Cut sheath from installed cable to gain access to defective cable connections.as well as cuts and peels sheath and insulation from newly installed cable and conductors.

  • Test (traces or phase out) each conductor to identify corresponding conductors in adjoining cables, using test lamp or bell system.

  • Read and interpret (i.e. mechanical, electrical, digital) drawings, maps, blueprints diagrams, etc.

  • Operate technical Equipment, including but not limited computer, OTDR and fusion slicing equipment, and functionality.

  • Complete daily production reports of work performed.

  • Respond to emergency call outs as needed, to include nights and weekends, but not limited holidays and extending day.

Qualifications

Who we are looking for…

  • Minimum of 2 years experience as a fiber splicer with experience on outside plant or system installations while working from blueprints, specifications, and system documentation

  • Ability to apply reasoning and understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions

  • Ability to work in emergencies at night and weekends if needed including but not limited holidays and extending days. Ability to work in all weather conditions

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Able to lift and pull up to 80 lbs

  • Ability to work in all weather conditions

  • Must be self-motivated and able to work within time constraints
