US Beverage Packers Automation and Controls System Engineer in Maplewood, New Jersey

Optimize implementation strategies by conducting thorough needs and gap analysis to improve processes in advance of changes required in production environment; Troubleshoot and modify software programs for material handling control systems, including PLC/PC controllers, Allen Bradley ControlLogix and CompactLogix PLC platform utilizing Studio 5000 software package, including Ethernet, Profibus and AS-I, motor control systems; Correlate and apply subject matter in machine handling and control systems to maximize utilization of systems; Read, design and understand electrical CAD layouts for troubleshooting during downtimes and modify layouts for equipment upgrade; Communicate automation test results to team members and highlight potential risks to minimize in future; Design and develop user-interface screens for various equipment on production floor as per the management requirements in Factory Talk View studio and Wonderware and implement efficient strategies for converting current applications; Utilize Fanuc Robot functionality and operation, control and operate teach pendant and modify robot parameters for product sorting and pallet stacking and reteach robot loci as per plant requirement; Employ Vision system functionality of industrial high switching cameras and barcode scanners and create and modify recipes when necessary, as per production requirements after onsite training at facility; Conduct tests, perform automation conversions, and whitelist software applications before adding to closed systems; Maintain detailed recordkeeping and update project documentation to compile reports; Develop operation manuals after performing machine technical changes for operators to explain functional modifications; Provide technical support as necessary; and Train production supervisors and machine operators on machine operation to minimize manual errors for reducing downtime.Position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or Controls Engineering or foreign equivalent plus three years of experience in the job offered or as a Project Engineer Using Motor Controls Variable Frequency Drive, motor starts, DC drives, and standard electrical components; Programing HMI components; Operating Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) functionality: configuration, troubleshooting and initial setup for Allen Bradley’s Power flex drives; Using Programmable Logic Controls (PLC) programs: RS Logix 500, Studio 5000, and Siemens TIA portal and AutoCAD and SCADA systems.; Supporting day-to-day Process Control activities at plant; Using Robotics system components and controls; Reading, interpreting, and understanding Piping & Instrumentation Diagram (P& ID) schematics for specific equipment in troubleshooting; Reading and interpreting mechanical and electrical drawings; Engineer detailed, comprehensive and well-structured test plans and test cases to identify and correct system errors; and Practical experience using hand tools including Digital Multimeters, Process Calibrator Multimeters, Megohmmeters, Oscilloscopes, Tachometers, Network cable testers to perform testing of electrical circuits. Travel required between facilities within the State of New Jersey
