    $ 32,760.00- $36,036.00 Annually $ 1,260.00 - $1,386.00 Bi-weekly

    Position Summary

    The Vocational Instructor II instructs individuals in the development of skill acquisitions and/or reduction of maladaptive behaviors; refine or retrain individuals.

    The Work You Will Do

    Perform skilled work as deemed necessary to the overall function of the job.

    Select a suitable work crew for work projects through utilization of a pool of candidates listing or utilizing existing caseload. This will include coordination with the living unit and/or on center instructor for reasons of accountability and readiness for community integration or enrollment into a paid work program.

    Plan and assist in conducting employability development and training as requested.

    Prepare necessary paperwork such as data reports, timekeeping, quarterly/annual assessments, progress notes, contract, or statistical information, etc. This will include attendance to interdisciplinary meetings, i.e., psychotropic quarterly and annual reviews.

    Consult with Vocational Instructor II for daily activities for the purpose of determining work crew, tools, work sites, contracts, assignments, etc.

    Design, develop and implement training as it relates to individual needs, i.e., adaptive devices, modifications, etc.

    Participate in training seminars, in-service training, and special or on center events or any other function that will improve work performance.

    Assist with the overall upkeep of the working environments both internal and external which will include cleanliness, sanitation, etc.

    Perform other related duties as required.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Preferred but not required; At least one year of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities.

    Preferred but not required; Experience working with recyclable items.

    Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

    Knowledge of: Principles and techniques of effective communication.

    Ability to: Work in a training capacity with people in individual and group settings. Ability to collect, record and evaluate data relating to the training of individuals. Ability to prepare and maintain records and other instructional materials. Ability to work independently. Ability to speak clearly and correctly to individuals and groups. Ability to listen effectively. Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures relating to vocational instruction.

    As a condition of employment, a person appointed to a position in the State Personnel System is required to participate in the Direct Deposit Program. Rather than receiving a paper paycheck, your funds will be deposited directly into your account at your financial institution. This will be accomplished by Electronic Funds Transfer. Banks, savings and loan associations, and credit unions are eligible to accept such deposits. Retirement funds are also required to be in the Direct Deposit Program.

    Background Screening Requirement

    It is the policy of the Florida Agency for Persons with Disabilities that applicants for employment undergo Level 2 employment screening in accordance with the requirements of Chapter 435, Florida Statutes, as a condition of employment or being permitted to serve as a volunteer.
